  1. For some reason I want to say the original post, left most one may be a bit older than the rest. The big red one in the same pic, so that's a blue base?
  2. I don't collect those but man, nice grouping
  3. Agreed that most would have ended up as Joseph coat style. Good examples Roger
  4. Interesting. there are other incredible single pontil marbles from earlier as well, but not often in that style I agree
  5. Those are some pretty unique examples, don't know how many others but I'd like to see them as well
  6. Makes you wonder if some of the larger German handmades were really intended to be used as marbles? I think around 1-1/4" was about as large as most American marbles were made
  7. Not so sure about that part, a lot of German marbles I've seen have a similar trait.
  8. You thinking a glass top? Throw some 'claw' feet on there and you'd be good to go. Nice find
  9. Agreed, there is something about this type that makes me wish there were more color combo's
  10. Small headed Elephant? Maybe a Lion? I doubt all the sculptors were 100% on anatomy (although surprisingly good most of the time)
  11. I get the tongue-in-cheek, but if you do have examples of NLR's that fit that description they sound interesting
  12. blocked due to geographic location maybe?
  13. this part is classic: Really? Is it a magical unicorn or a lawyer?
  14. Interesting info in this thread. The part I'm having difficulty with is how the so-called color layer 'burns off' under a torch. To me that would indicate it's not really glass but some type of coating. Looking at post #4, to get a colored layer of glass one would assume after it was added that the marble would need to be beat to sh!t for those types of chips. Whereas a thin coating could have been dipped or brushed on an already chipped/damaged marble to give that appearance. In-hand it might be a different story. IMO if I sent a colored sulphide to be polished/fixed and it came back clear I'd be wondering what the heck happened
  15. JVV, I sure miss Alan's postings. Always interesting marbles and good pics + angles to look at. Greg,- loss for words, that's a tough past year. You've lost some good friends young..
  16. I'm curious what the those spur (gear) things are in post #5 and what they might be made out of
  17. So any ideas on what it might be? There might be a couple clues..
  18. Hey all, I know there are quite a few Pelts out there with aventurine whether intentional or not, but wondered if anyone has other pics of a 'Liberty' with blue aventurine? This one is a bit beat-up for the purists, so I'd like to see one in better condition if possible. Thanks
