A surprise in my carrots. It gave me a scare when I reached in to pluck that odd-looking "weed". But it's pretty, isn't it.

with that texture it does look modern and foreign ... but with the swirls I sure wanted it to be Mexican. I don't recognize a style name though. Closest I could come on the colors was this https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=262

Almost an inch. At that size the usual choices for a swirl are Jabo, Alley and Vacor. At the moment I'm leaning ..... um, I'm not allowed to say.

It does look bricky, doesn't it. A couple more views might help. Are there seams or cutlines? Or a nine-and-tail?

Modern. Asian or Mexican. I wonder how popular they are with actual marble players. Seems they might irritate someone's knuckle.

What Dave said! Better than a double ingot! (Quick note: double ingots are two marbles stuck together, so 9/16" would have to be two very small marbles.)

That is a good question. I remember a fairly recent article about a marble company in Argentina which said that at one time there were at least four companies in that country. Wouldn't be surprised to learn there had once been more than one marble company in Mexico.

Interesting structure. More color than usual. Still the colors say Peltier Multicolor Rainbo to me.

So the left one is like half whitey and half conqueror? The right one seems "clearly" an All-Red. However, that is unusual coloring on the brown end, and if it has an iridescent finish, I would consider modern, because I think I have seen a red, white and brown modern one which looked like an All-Red.

Though 5/8" and not the usual 9/16" of "game marbles", it still would be hard to determine a maker for a marble which is almost a solid color. Are those long seams? Could be a Vitro.

As far as I know that is a real advertisement from the 1950's. I have two theories -- Berry Pink selling new old stock while waiting for his own product to be ready to go. Or, with the new marbles not ready yet, someone just reached for whatever pretty marbles they could find in order to get an attractive picture to entice buyers with. The Pelts and Alleys were natural for Berry Pink to have on hand. And he did sell them under his Marble King brand. The Akros are the mystery.
