  1. I would try alcohol. Or most any other traditional way of removing glue from glass. There are _some_ glass marbles which can be damaged by applying solvents. But most will be safe. I would take the chance. I'd start with a red and white one. The other one is more unusual, so I'd wait on that one to see how things worked with the first marble or what comments others might say.
  2. Hmmmm ... I think Alley on the red and white. (If vintage, then definitely Alley on the red and white.) I guess that _could_ be Alley on the other one. I look forward to hearing what others say.
  3. Well hi, Caroline! Nice to see you. I don't know what those are.
  4. With five distinct vanes, I will agree with Vitro. I think not so easy to find.
  5. I also ordered one ... had been on my shopping list. Mine came without a battery though there's a spot in the packaging material for the battery. I've messaged the seller. Did yours arrive?
  6. I don't _think_ so. We call the style "St. Marys Alley" because that's the town Alley was operating out of when it was most likely made. (Alley had factories in different towns over the years.) Or at least that's what I usually call them. Maybe it has gained a name in the last couple of years and someone else will educate us.
  7. Neat! Marble fellowship. Thanks for sharing. And Merry Christmas to you.
  8. I don't know CAC's but I think I have a good feel for Pelts. So I only feel good answering half of the question.
  9. awww .... was it ebay? If so then you can get a refund for the misrepresentation of amount. Or I guess you can enjoy the nice ones and let it go. We all have our expensive lessons.
  10. nice I can't remember if I have one of those or if I'm just remembering another interesting big Vitro ... will have to check, huh
  11. Oh gosh, I don't want to post anything, coz I want your mystery marble to stay on top .... but I just got this gift box of Peltier Mansions .... and I have to share it!
  12. definitely interesting I can't remember what colors of opaques MFC had .... maybe it's a different maker's handgathered marble, or maybe someone else will have a different explanation for that looping. Need more eyes on this one.
  13. There are a couple of other Vitros and Pelts I would reach in and pull out for a closer inspection. And first pic on the back row, there's one which I wonder if it might be oxblood.
  14. White arrows -- 1st arrow pic, on left -- base texture looks modern -- Asia or Mexidco right arrow -- I don't know Second arrow pix -- yellow arrow -- I'm pretty sure that's Jabo white arrow -- that does look vintage -- colors are that of a Vitro conqueror, not quite sure of the structure
  15. I can't be sure of maker of amber. From that one view, some chance that it is handgathered, so could be MFC. Condition does look rough.
  16. Oh no! I opened the thread too soon! What will I do in the morning?!
  17. Thanks for the seams. Big help. With those seams, I'm thinking an unusual foreign cat's eye. Seriously unusual, both in base glass and vanes.
  18. I _think_ that was an accident. Though there is a group of Akro that we call popeye patches which looks like an intentional run (whether they were sold or not), I think this is unrelated to that group. I think this run was supposed to be all cork. I doubt there was a switch to patches here. My guess is that the cup just stopped spinning for a moment. I suppose there _was_ a schedule for switching. Like switching over to an official Royal run at some point in a day or week or month. I just doubt that was employed here.
  19. Nice! This cork and patch came from the same Popeye box. (From a Marblealan auction) If that wasn't same run, had to be pretty darn close in time.
