  1. Just when you felt safe to go back into the Lake.
  2. Swirl. I'm feeling Veiligglas in that pattern.
  3. I understand. They count as solid-colored though. If they have a swirly pattern, that rules out the more valuable option. (The more valuable possibility for the reds would be an Akro Flinty, but I don't think that's what we have here.)
  4. Picture #2 has Marble King Cub Scouts and Picture #3 had Marble King Bumble Bees. Those are from the 1950's or 1960's. They're very popular and could bring some more money. Edit: I answered too quickly about Picture #2. Five look like Marble Kings. Looks like there might be an older Akro there also, and then some kind of swirl that I don't recognize -- that could be much newer or ... well, I don't know from that view. Picture #4 looks like some 1940's Alley Agates plus maybe one Vitro Conqueror. Picture #5 with the blues are a range of makers. Picture #6 is mostly Vitros from the 1930's through maybe 1960's. Pretty sure the big marble in the group is newer. Maybe from the 1980's. Could be later. #11 has a modern one in it. Probably less than 20 years old. The big marble in #12 could be modern ... or could be an Akro from say the 1940's. Regarding #10, solid red colored marbles could be valuable if they were a certain type, but it's hard to identify them in a photo ... odds are those are "just game marbles". And there are more nice mixture in the other pictures. Sooooo ... mostly vintage. And there are a lot more than I first thought. You could maybe get more than $100 out of this.
  5. Just the first one. I hit "next" and didn't see any more marbles. Now I see there are pictures below the first one ..... *sheepish*
  6. It does look like fun. I'm in the facebook group and was admiring Ursula Moran‎'s steam punk marbles today (near the top of the page currently). You gonna hunt? Is there gonna be something in every state?

Hmmm. The close-up didn't change my uncertainty. I'll stick with part of the red is probably not oxblood, and part of the red could be. It is a color combo from which oxblood could emerge. I'm loads of help, huh.
  8. Hello. Welcome. You do have a vintage bunch, so that's good. I see some Vitro, Peltier, Akro and West Virginia Swirls. Maybe some others. A nice group. Mostly from the 1930's to the 1950's. At least one from later. Possibly one from earlier but I can't make it out clearly. I'm not seeing any high value ones. You _might_ get over 20 for it on ebay. I can't be sure though.

The more I look at it the more it seems it could be ox. But I should quit posting and wait for another picture, huh?!

In my mind, the blue does increase the possibility of it being oxblood. Accidental oxblood is often associated with shades of blue.

Marble King Rainbows. Some people don't like to say that machine-made marbles came from the same run, but with those particular dark streaks, I think you're correct. Low chance of it being oxblood, but I couldn't swear not. A bigger photo of the part that you think looks most oxbloody might help.
  12. I'm not sure. At this point can't rule out a swirl-maker. Swirl glass has to end somewhere, so you'll likely see at least one tab is you look for it. The third view looks like a "buttcrack" type feature. Is it game marble size? 9/16"?
  13. Thank you, Bud! I was hoping that you would post that. The button-shaped spot is an interesting formation we do see from time to time. I don't remember it always being accompanied by twisting. Sorry it wasn't what you hoped.
  14. Smooooooooth. And of course great color choices!
  15. .... if your first thought when you fire up this Jethro Tull video is "what kind of marble is that on the right .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktlMApgRY7s

  17. I love how you're branching out.
  18. Yeah ... those Illinois sharks are fierce.
  19. Nnnnnnn comes after Mmmmmm. Sometimes I worry about her.
  20. Yeah, that's one of the directions my thoughts were taking me. The other was to wonder how late into last century kids were able to get marble premiums ... coz it's cool to see it maybe lasted at least into the 70's.
