  1. Nice colors! One of the oddest styles of cat-eye I ever had had six vanes in two colors. Three vanes of one color followed by three vanes of the second color. I saw them once early in my acquiring/collecting/selling. And of course I sold them. I'm pretty sure the photos I had were lost when our Macintosh crashed. Anyone have any like that?
  2. Dang, I can't believe I forgot. I have a number of 3/4" Jabo classics which are definitely for sale. I'll take a photograph a little later. I'm tending to a sick cat right now. But hopefully I can get you a picture today.
  3. Hello. Welcome. In these views the marbles look like West Virginia swirls. Could be from 1930's or 1940's. I think probably less than $1 per marble. Maybe someone else will have other ideas.
  4. P.s., here is the site of the Mexican marble company. I don't have any idea how one might go about buyingfrom them directly. They sell around the world through various distributors. But I don't suppose it would hurt to ask them either. Fábricas Selectas Edit: Also known as Vacor, and in the U.S. as Mega marbles.
  5. Hello and welcome. Have you asked Land of Marbles about 3/4" marbles? Pete Caparelli is the proprietor. You could ask about 3/4" marbles at his forum and/or message him at his forum. Land of Marbles forum He might be able to put a special order together for you. He does sell marbles in bulk through another site. Here are some 18mm marbles, which are a little less than 3/4". Moon Marbles Searching google by millimeters rather than inches might be helpful. 19mm would be closest to 3/4" of course. Here's the Marble King site. Definitely check them out. They list cat's eyes in the 3/4" size. You could call and ask them if they also have solids or translucents or clearies in that size. http://marblekingusa.com/ Marble King Cat's Eye page I'd think you could get some pretty Mexican marbles in your desired size range but I'm not immediately seeing where to look for them. Pete at LOM sells the marbles from Mexico so I'd start by asking him about them.
  6. Some more St. Marys ...
  7. Here's a boring six vane Asian cat: I sold it once on ebay. The person looked at all the pics I showed and wanted it enough to pay over $10 for it. And then when they got it they were peeved that it was just a plain old six vane cat eye. So I got it back. I love it. It's a quick change artist. Turns into a peacock depending on how you look at it.
  8. Hehe .... *going to practice now*

Bahahahaha & booooooooooooooo You had me going there .......
  10. I really don't know what it would take to be called a Miller swirl in general, but I'd guess that this is too clear of a seam to qualify? Am I on the right track with that thought?
  11. "Chortle" is a combination of "chuckle" and "snort". "Snortle" is a combination of "snort" and "chortle". What percentage "snort" is a snortle?
  12. The 2nd view you have showing makes me think Vacor. Or Imperial. Maybe I should have mentioned Imperial for Winnie's also. Do you see the little Master-esque cutline? I need to look up some Old Fashions to see how many different ribbons they have coming into the cutline.
  13. Winnie's look modern. Vacor Old Fashion. Her left marble has a cutline which adds to the Vacor impression. The lighting is odd on yours, Ann, and that pigtail is different. More views might help.
  14. This thread can go in two different directions. 1) We can discuss whether there really is any such thing as Miller swirls 2) People can post the marbles which have traditionally been described as Miller swirls I've already opened the door on the first option. Hopefully we'll at least get some of the second option too.
  15. You're slaying me! *ooops, I was gonna be quiet*
  16. very cool that's what I'd say, or with the dirt on them part of the sheen could be from what happens to marbles underground but now I better step back and let someone else weigh in P.s., now I see/re-see the box lid which says "reflector marbles". I know that some marbles were used for reflectors. But I also see the molded reflector, so that's why I was spending all that time wondering about whether the Automatic Devices Co. was receiving marbles or molded version. Why not both ...
  17. Gotta say the marbles are old. Peerless Patches.
  18. I guess if I didn't have anyone around to help me with a name, I'd call the black aventurine. Does the "pearlized" label seem old? As if it were an original description of the marble? Love your letter. Take care of that paper. Do you have a plastic cover you can store it in flat? Better not to fold and refold. So the government needed dark red marbles and the public needed lighter ones ..... for ..... something ..... Or was the marble just to be a color sample for some other glassware, such as the reflector which Peltier molded?
  19. Could you find the web again tomorrow?
