Love the vase that looks like a fudge swirled milkshake! -
Nice lot for sale on Ebay.

It also seems that it's not just the mint marbles that go for a high price now days. Seems like marbles that went for a dollar a couple years ago now go for $3 to $5. I think going to a marble show is probably your best bet in getting something that you really like for a fair price. You will probably get a lot of info in addition. I haven't gone to one yet, but one day . . . . You will probably pay top dollar on eBay being that there is a growing interest right now. Do a lot of research before buying the high ticket items that you like and jars are like grab bags, always fun to see if you scored anything. IMO. -

I was just thinking the same thing! Almost exactly!

As usual, I love your marbles Gladys! But, I have to say that your rooster is a beautiful one! I grew up with a couple of pet bantam chickens. IMO. If I had a large yard, I would probably still have chickens in it.

Cheese Head for sure--show your teams colors!

Yay! One day I need to go to a game. But, I’m not sure if I should do any cheering. Went to a college volleyball game and got laryngitis which seemed to turn into a cold. My vocal cords are getting too old for that stuff. Also, Buffalo gets pretty cold during the season. LOL! Thanks for the good news! I need to follow them more.😆 -

Cool Site! I just enjoyed looking through their inventory!

Vitro it is! Thanks Fire1981!

WVRons, you've just created such a vivid picture in my mind about what went into making marbles in a factory. Certainly dangerous work to be appreciated. My marbles are even more precious to me than they were a minute ago. Just so much to learn historically, while learning about marble history. And, yes, now that you point it out, it makes sense that this would be a Vitro. You are a walking encyclopedia (and I mean that in a very respectful way)! Thank you so much for sharing!

Thanks WVRons!! Really interesting and valuable information. Marble making must have been like the restaurant business. Tough to keep the business profitable. Btw, is that why some of the marbles have little inclusions that look like dirt in them, perhaps the rust from the rollers after a shut down? Just wondering. Thanks again!

I think this marble is either an Akro or a Vitro. Akro because of the seams and colors. Vitro because of the marks that look like lines where the machine didn't evenly spread the colored glass onto the base. I seem to see that a lot in Vitros. The size is .73". Sticking to those two even if there are a couple of other options. I would appreciate any help. Thank you!!

Yes! I've had to scale back on my purchasing a bit and I miss buying from my favorite sellers, but the skies the limit these days for many buyers. Good time for everyone to clean out their collections, perhaps. LOL.

Vitros?
-
Should I just categorize the first two ad Akro/Master?

I have yet to see a Berry Pink, but from the photos, it has to be on my top 5 on my marble wishlist. Would I need to take out a loan? 😅Gorgeous!

Does this Peltier have a collector's nickname?

Some of those colors remind me of some vitros. Especially the light blue. -
I put the marbles in a plastic container or baggie with water and Dawn detergent. I know some will probably cringe at the baggie, but after soaking for a few hours to overnight, I open a sliver of the ziplock and pour out the dirty water. Then I put the marbles in a plastic plant pot with holes and rinse, put them on a terry towel, wipe individually with a soft cloth or towel and they are sparkling again!

Yay! Thanks Chad!

Yes, there are some beautiful Jabos for sure! Here's one of my favorites. It seems to glow even without a UV light. It looks way better in hand. Wish I could take a better photo of it to do it justice.

I'm not much of a football fan (sorry!) but when I watch a game I can yell and scream as loud as anyone, and I'm usually going to be cheering for the underdog. But since I moved to NY . . . here are my team colors! I suppose the Bills are still considered the underdogs. -
Definitely not the usual seams on these patches. But, just had to ask--foreign? The first two look more similar to each other. One is .67" and the other is .63". There is some yellow glass under the bubbly syrupy white glass. The black is opaque. The last marble, .63", is more opalescent and the white base is somewhat wispy. There is also a bit of UV reactive green under the opaque black glass. Interesting marbles, if anything. Thanks for your input!

Hi Everyone, Looking for assistance with three marbles. I'm thinking the first is an Akro. The yellow is UV reactive, if it makes a difference. It is .63". The 2nd looks like a Master because of the more earthy look. It is .65". But that wide seam makes me wonder if it is Akro. I am wishing for "Master" on the 3rd. The patch is green when lit up. It is .62". Thanks!
