  1. I'm all for a CAC day, but I think it would have to piggyback onto another day, because all the days are being used. That would mean I would feel bad twice on one day, maybe more when all my CACs prove to be Vacors. I can take it though. Thanks Bruce
  2. I agree with Ric that policing E-bay could be a full time job. But it could also be educational, for example why do you guys see champion as opposed to anything else. Thanks Bruce
  3. Yikes, Odd how he says he's grading by Block's standards and then seems to ignore them. The photos have the seller's fingerprints in focus but not the mib, but there are enough "flea bites" visible to show that it is nowhere near "near mint". He says it measures .75 when his own calipers show a hair over .53. The first sentence in the description acts as the disclaimer to cover a multitude of sins. Because of the color my first thought was Vacor anyway, but I am usually wrong on IDs. Thanks Bruce
  4. Some pelts that may have been posted before. And one posted upside down, again, Arrrggggh. Thanks Bruce
  5. Rats, I was all set to post another Kokomo question. I have a mib I thought was possible kokomo but I expect from reading the above the answer lies somewhere between "nope" and "prob'ly not". I picked this mib out of the pile because of the bright colors (it is far brighter in hand). I guess the odds of me finding a kokomo in the wilds of NW Montana are pretty slim, about like the odds of finding a furnace, but I have two of them. Anyway here are the photos. Thanks Bruce
  6. More of a lemonade I think but kinda greenish. I'd grade it in the 3-4 range, but lights up like a christmas tree under black light. Thanks Bruce
  7. I thought the foreign mibs had a gap at the poles. I would guess MK or Master, I can't ever remember which. Thanks Bruce t
  8. They left the junk jar and went to the Halfway House Thanks Bruce
  9. Nope, Flinties are glass. Usually nearly opaque but translucent and opalecent, The Akro versions usually have a "fish eye". Not common and easy to pass over as game pieces. Here are some pics of my beaters. I can't seem to toss 'em. I know alot of guys do. Thanks Bruce
  10. Thanks Akroorka; I think beach glass may be where these fit in. I have 2 or 3 more that I have extracted from my junk jar and I think I have the perfect spot for them. Will try to send pix when I get them all placed. Thanks Bruce
  11. I occasionally run across a marble that has a dull finish. They are uniformly dull, more than can be explained away as play wear. I am wondering whether they left the factory this way or were subject to some sort of chemical reaction, post production. I have seen modern mibs that have a matte finish purposely, but I am wondering about the older ones. I was going thru my junk jar and wondering about this very issue when this one popped up. It's an old Pelt with a few dings. I have seen lots of marbles more beat up that do not have the dull finish. Anyone know the answer. Thanks Bruce
  12. Smoke jumper huh? I was on an IR crew. If 1981 is a year you were jumping our paths may have crossed. I was nearing the end of my career then. Thanks Bruce
  13. Both right around 5/8ths the first maybe a hair over the second maybe a hair under. Thanks Bruce
  14. Alley on the first one never occurred to me because of the Pelt-y colors, but I see it now. Long as they're not Jabos Thanks Bruce
  15. Found a couple in my favorite antique store yesterday. One looks to be a Pelt "Flaming Dragon", although it does look a bit CAC-ish. The other I think may be an Alley with ox. The ox is definite the Alley is a guess. They'll prob'ly both turn out to be Jabos or Vacor. Thanks Bruce
  16. That's a gorgeous marble. Kinda has vacor blue, but I think pelt all the way. Thanks Bruce
  17. I assume you guys don't have cats. Here are some shots of mine: a relatively small collection, one display box and some jars. I have gotten rid of at least 10 gallons over the years. Wish I had 'em back. These are old photos, different mibs have moved in and out since these were taken. Thanks Bruce
  18. Not a slag. It needs to be a transparent base with white swirled in. That's a nice one, but a swirl. Thanks Bruce
  19. Lotsa cool marbles, but kinda beat up, so not much resale value. Thanks Bruce
  20. Mostly rainbos, red and blue. The amber ones look to be slags, the maker is a mystery to me but someone will know. Thanks Buce
  21. Kinda looks like a gear shift knob to me. Thanks Bruce
