  1. I can't really tell Brother?? They make the new stuff in much the same as the old, a real piece can get really spendy, by that I mean in the thousands $$ for some mint examples. I'm sure someone that knows a lot more about Millefiori will post, "Alan" has some newer pieces he's posted and seems pretty up on the subject so hopefully he'll see this thread ?? "Nice Piece Brother" I understand these are a lot of work and not just anybody can make them ?? You can see the construction, all separate individual different colored canes. I think the record is a piece of Clichy that went for at or over a hundred grand $100,000. Here's a piece for sale I googled real quick !! A pretty good size website to check outw/ new and antique examples, have fun diggin Brother !! 2. Relax Brother !! You earned it !! Myself I'd be examining the inside of my eyelids for at least couple hours, stay safe man
  3. The day I look foreword to all week, Sunday, the day of rest. Time to go to Church, come home, grub out, kick back and watch the world go by, or was that watch it go Bye - Bye ??
  4. I have a pair of digitals w mm, inch & fractions of an inch made by "General" that are black plastic & look much like Williams. I don't even keep batteries in my metal ones anymore, like you said Steph & I agree, I get real nervous using the metal ones on a mib !! Mostly I don't even use digitals at all, just the cheap plastic "harbor freight" ones for a couple bucks.
  5. Agree w/ Steph on all 3, MK, Alley, and yes a Master brushed patch.

    Vacation

Salright man such is life, I'll just make the best of what I have Brother.
  7. This bag looks like Vacor, I see iridescent marbles and a MM size, & it says "Meteor" right on the bag, a well known Vacor marble, Oop, I can barely make out "Mexico" along the bottom right hand side, I'm gonna say Vacor positively. This is a German bag but it says "Made In Mexico" in German so I'd guess Vacor also on these. Guessing on these but I see a barcode so newer cat eyes and I se mm again so guessing foreign made, I'd say low value if any. Can't see these Again I see the "made in Mexico" tag and a slight cobalt blue reflection, plain clearies, very low value !! Looks like all cat eyes in this one Another bag of cat eyes and you can see "Made in Taiwan" on the bottom of the bag, so all of these very common, collector value little to nothing, maybe you're daughter would like them, safe to play with and such ?? A great bunch of play marbles. Some cats are worth money especially in the original packaging but I don't see anything here ?? Elizabeth Kempski (known as pinx on Ebay) just finished probably the best book ever written on cat eyes and associated marbles, full color pix w/marbles, packaging, countries of origin, values etc... I don't have a link but perhaps someone else will. I have the book and highly recommend it even if you don't collect cats a good book to have around, I bought mine direct from her which I think she still offers to avoid the Ebay fees !! I think I paid under $30.00 including shipping so a more than fair price. By the way I "like" your new Avatar, is that your signature I see on the bottom ??

    Vacation

Well my little fishing trip to the Deschutes for Steelhead has been quelled, health issues, getting old "sucks" guess I had a little "Too Much Fun" when I was young, gotta pay the piper some day & I'm guessing someday is here. Ah well, hopefully next year ?? GOD is good so remain positive

    Tiger

I think we all do Brock !! Vacors still makes and made some beautiful marbles, I have a few Vacor Bengal Tigers myself, when I see one I like I keep it !! Please forgive all the misspellings going on on my part, my fingers seem to be exceptionably "fat" today ??
  12. Alright man, now I'm sure provenance will begin to surface here pretty quickly as people begin to take more of an interest in these "mystery" marbles !!
  13. You're welcome Art, too many for me to remember also, I use it for Vacor I.D. all the time, I think Al Oregon posted it first here, yes a great I.D. site. Oh yeah !! agree, Vacor for I.D. on the marble !!

    Tiger

Yours looks like a Vacor "Bengal Tiger", definitely not Peltier. Peltiers don't always have ribbons, my avatar is a Pelt Tiger w aventurine, but yes generally Pelt NLR'S have ribbons & the 2 seam construction.
  15. Agree 100% w/ Steph, here's a close up shot of a mica, the mica usually will be in a layer "not floating throughout" the marble because the hot cane was rolled on a layer of mica and put back into the "glory hole" and reheated before being coated w/ another layer of hot glass. Actual "floating mica" throughout the marble is very rare, but that's another subject. Here's a closeup view for ya, hope it helps out a bit !! Note, the mica is in a kind of layer towards the outside, the middle has none. This is an older handmade (1850-1870 or so) usually have one faceted pontil & the other end will be unfinished or have a melted "pigtail" sometimes melted to near oblivion. (1870- 1910 or there about's) were mostly made for the English (Victorian era) board game market and will have 2 unfinished ends and generally speaking will be smaller in size, this one is 1.25" so a larger specimen. There are as with everything, always a few exceptions to the rule.
  16. Alrighty then Some real beauties !!

    Cool find

I don't see Peltier, Vitro, Heaton, Christensen, Akro, Alley, Champion, Davis, Jackson, MF, Ravenswood, or any type of W.Va. swirl, one thing I am seeing is a machine made marble for sure so not handmade, were almost there I think ?? Better make a list and see what's left !! I'm gonna say foreign, maybe by a stretch Vacor or Jabo but more than likely unknown, I don't see any identifiable traits that I recognize at all, so I guess I'll reman on the fence eating popcorn ... ... I said butter !! Cmon really !! ... Ahh ! That's better ... Mmmm ! Yeah ! Sgooood !! Better apply some a this and let it sit a while, maybe it'll dissolve the thick coating of "Mystery" surrounding it ?? Works on everything else !!
  18. You may have a point there Art, the more I look the less Veiligglas I see, the colors are right but the av, excess colorant or whatever is off for Veiligglas. On second look I'm gonna say all 4 are "Jabo" (maybe ??)
  19. The seam indicates to me these might be from a mold ?? The "nub" must serve some purpose ?? Maybe the glass was pushed onto the "nub" hot while held in a mold ?? Dunno really, I've seen the piano stools w/ actual sulphides and other Germans as well as the held in place versions like yours but never as large, usually around an inch, give or take, I have pix of a few sets on stools around here somewhere, I'll try and drudge them up. Well I found the pix, a 4 legged piano stool w claw feet and 4 clear molded mibs just like the ones you have but only 1" there on my flip phone which doesn't have a chip in it and refuses to send an Email, time to skip it out across the water, all the pix I have on it are worthless just like the phone, th guy at the store said you couldn't give him a phone like that now I knw why , I'll hang on to it but not for long !!!!!
  20. The 3 bigger ones are definitely the same manufacture, looks like Veiligglas to me ?? Here's the odd man out, the smallest, looks like Jabo to me ?? Do you have a size on them ??
  21. Chad G.

    Cool find

My best guess is ??????????????????????????? an inside out ?? It does , kinda look vacor but ?? None of the traits ?? I'm on the fence ... Time ta wait this one out ... ... More butter please ... Mmm, that's better I might be here a while ??
  22. Yay team !! I.D. city here we come (I think ??) Bet ya got some real killers in there somewhere !! What I've seen so far hasn't been gleaned yet & they aren't beat up so both real good signs Collect what you like, the key to marble happiness !!
  23. Thanks Brad, I have to put together a bunch of sets and see exactly what I have, one thing that I only have one piece left on is a set of interior panel w/ oxblood. You've seen the pix of the plates, saucers, cups, sugar bowl pitcher and lid I think all I have left is the creamer itself on that set, believe me it took a while for the rest, I remember passing on a lemonade ox set or two several years back (Duh) only abbot $250.00 then. Now you can barely touch a lone pitcher w/ a lid for less than 175.00 "if you can find it ??" I'll start rummaging around and see exactly what I have & need "Thanks again"
  24. (L) to (R) Vitro, Marble king, Alley, sorry I'll get some closer pics later (if I remember ??) A little closer & a different view, the biggest and the only one w/ fleas (of course) is the Akro limeade cork. A couple have some microscopic pocket wear but that's it !! Not bad for less than .50 a mib. My favorite is the little tiny Pelt MCS, less than 9/16ths"
  25. Yeah Buddy !! Killer boards& mibs, I don't even have one red mica I see a piece of the "Holy Grail" hiding right in the middle in plain sight. At least you have one, that's a start !!
