Hello Art, No uv actually I lit it up from underneath so I'd have to say backlit with normal lighting, I've posted this marble many times and the consensus is being from the French drain, the olive base glass color is very similar to several marbles recovered from there. I knew it was Akro when I got it but the olive base glass threw me. Oxblood is on the surface, I though is was subsurface also but the ox does protrude a bit out from the base glass a bit in a couple areas, other than that a couple microscopic as made dimples, I can't even find a fleabite. I lit it up so the Akro construction was more visible, I thought it was a super muddy translucent for the longest time !! In hand the olive green color is very apparent when backlit. In regular lighting it appears to be a dark muddy base. I did try U.V. on it, very little to no reaction, maybe the muddy coloring, I haven't the slightest. -

An obscure Akro w/ Oxblood, believed to be from the "French Drain? I believe" Alan" was the one who pointed this out to me and caused further investigation, "Thank You Alan" -
I made a couple collages of some things I like to do, some of my "other interests" Marble related games : Mushroom photography, picking & buying : Fishing : I wanted to put some elk & deer hunting pix here but didn't want to gross anybody out.

Not very good on Vitro I.D. but the ones with color only on the outside & transparent on the inside were called "Veneered" I believe Vitro was the first or the only manufacturer to use this method in production, from what I've read this really bolstered their sales. A link to Vitro history, production, types. I.D. etc... LINK : https://buymarbles.com/marblealan-vitro.html

I believe a silver surfer has to have ta transparent green base, Gladys mib has what appears to be an opaque white base, still a killer marble in anyone's book. I also consulted the book I bought from Sami Arim "Peltier Glass Toy Marbles" an American Legend, to make sure of the I.D. qualifiers for this particular Pelt. The transparent green base glass is present in every example shown. I would post the pix but not without permission from Sami first. Here is a link with a couple different links w/ pix of them, curtesy of AAM LINK : https://www.allaboutmarbles.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=40318&p=336772&hilit=silver+surfer#p336772 LINK : https://www.allaboutmarbles.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=41493&p=306094&hilit=silver+surfer#p306094 -
Boy do we need some of that, grounds so dry here it's like concrete, no normal at all, we usually have dry hot weather in August but it doesn't normally start in June, more like end of July, this is the PNW. Maybe I'll take some out on the dry dirt for a few rounds ??
