  1. "Thanks Tommy" I love em, Dave does some killer work, like I said PM me and I'll give you his Email if you like ?? there are loads of other types he makes to your specifications, colors, sizes you name it. He's got some calligraphy's in the works right now I requested, I've seen some he's already done and am blown away, I'd show you the pics of some earlier ones he made, but will wait till he has mine done & boxed to share. thank you for the compliment, I shared this post with him earlier today after he sent the pix of the finished boxes.
  2. Here is a link to a thread I posted right here showing my favorite type of hand made, the Josephs coat, I used to have nearly 400 of these at near or over 1" very hard to find this type at and over 1" . Many of them and these have "aventurine" in them, here's the link from right here on the forum. You will learn the difference between these, onionskins & coreless and the others as you move foreword, many members here also have an affinity for old Germans. Remember if you have any questions just post them someone will chime in and even if they don't know the answer they will direct you or someone who will help in your direction. "Steph" is the moderator here and has helped me countless times. Again "Welcome" I have acquired may coats since that post & probably should add them to it. Chad G. 3. Translucent agate types are next, Both Dave and I have an affinity with for pelts and mostly Alley (sound familiar) I also have some Alley flame designs in the works with Dave. He's certainly the best at what he does I've found, using no layering or rounding machines, I enjoy his art., Alot of work goes into these little buggers, I tried to count the layers and got lost, I was flabbergasted when he said how many layers he put into those flames he made for me. I will eventually have some one inch but he likes the 13/16 the best they fit in his boxes perfect as well as being the most malleable size for his hands. I understand he's going to start up on AAM again with the same old avatar as before. I told him the buy sell trade was really picking up, he was on there today but still has a couple bugs he wants to iron out before he posts.
  4. Good grief Ric, I done been had again, you got me good my friend !! UGhh !! all that work for nill, oh well maybe someone else can glean both mib info and team color info from this post, a two fer.
  5. Good job preserving the box top, a most excellent way to display it
  6. Speaking of edible, I brought some nice bright ones like that in my pocket and pulled them out to show a shop owner what I was looking for and they replied "thanks I'm not hungry right now" they thought I had a handful of candy, I sure got a good snicker out of that one. They had to look twice at what I had in my hand, you don't see many in wet mint shape like you have anymore. The collectors of old German handmades are getting thinner and thinner, in the 90's when everyone else including me was chasing them the competition was quite hardy, and the prices for that time went quite high. "A nice set Neil & a good job preserving the box as well" provenance is important, excellent display, enjoy the space while you have it, strange how something so small can take up so much room. Whatever you do "Have fun" & again Welcome. You done been "bit" . I have at lest few hundred ranging in size from a little under 7/16ths to 2 3/4ths" and everything in between, these are all in the last 7-8 years, before 2009 I had over 1500 handmades alone, 400 of which were Josephs coats, my most colorful and still my favorite handmades to collect.
  7. Yes you have a few same cane pairs, and looking at the bright colors and unfinished pontils they all appear to be from the English game board (Victorian )era. The Germans made these for the English game boards. I had one that had as far as I know the original marbles to the set, all single color solid core, up to 6 of the same cane. the only lone ranger I had was a powder blue solid core,, just a sec I'll fetch some pics, here's a picture of the board and most of the marbles except the powder blue, most were between .67 & .73" one or 2 a little bigger and a little smaller. When they were all on the board you couldn't tell. The most in one cane I had was the yellow, almost identical but varied slightly in sizes & design, but definitely same cane. the last colors to the set, I can't find a pic of the powder blue finding this many from the same cane is extremaly difficult unless they came packed together as I believe these did. My favorite colors were the orange and the cayenne red. The powder blue was the 33rd mib I kept in the center I couldn't find a date but the box was indeed made in England A large board for it's time considering some of these marbles are close to .75 A board and set that for me was extremely hard to come by, had to be sacrificed in 2009 during a divorce I went through. Trying to find one then was hard enough, I can only imagine trying now. You have a very beautiful set Neil and the mibs look immaculate, well worth holding onto, a few with jellcor lots of black a few double razor ribbons I seen with the bright orange, "personally" I would hold onto all of them except maybe replace the latts. with some more nice ribbon cores the same size.
  8. Galaxy is blue, yellow with av. in the black, the wolverine has no black and no av. Peltier Wolverine courtesy of AAM Blue Galaxy, courtesy of Terry Middleton ( Grandpamarble)
  9. Hello & Welcome Neil Finally another German handmade lover. Appears to be 3 ribbon cores & one solid core. The bright colors and two unfinished pontils are an indicator to me of a manufacture date somewhere between 1880 & 1910. Most of these marbles were made for the English game board market during the Victorian era. The older mibs around 1850 - 1880 "usually" demonstrate faceting on one end and a melted pigtail on the other, sometimes melted to oblivion, there are exceptions I'm just speaking in general terms. Black is a rarer color, looks like you got a good clean set, only 4 latts. any same cane present ??
  10. Well the box sets are almost all completed one more to go, these are fantastic works of art that took Dave many hours to complete, we shared I told him what I liked and this is what he came up with. I am beyond satisfied. If you want his Email just PM me and I have his permission to give it out a few pix of the completed boxes he made for me. This first one is a representation of some pelts "wasp" "bumblebees" "blue galaxy" "golden rebel" all artist interpretations not meant to look like the actual mib but to represent it in form and color complete with av. in the black. A box of wasp and bumble bee flames also complimented with av. present in all the black, and another one of Dave's box designs A side by side of the two, I couldn't have asked for better work, a very happy camper I am. The mib size is around 13/16ths
  11. x 2, Both Akro, I agree very much with Ric on the lazy cork, very nice and clean, one of my "favorite" prize name color combos I have been granted permission by Bob Block, {MCSA} "Marble Collectors Society Of America" to use and share information from the site, a short definition of a corkscrew & qualifications. Hope this helps you a little, I've posted the entire thing on "Akro Friday" I've used definitions & info from this site many times. "A corkscrew need not make a full rotation to be considered a corkscrew. Thus a lazy cork. LINK : https://www.marblecollecting.com/marble-reference/online-marble-id-guide/akro-agate-co/
  12. Sorry folks, English was never my strong point in high school or college and as such I will more than likely continue misspelling words. I will try and watch it in the future so as not to confuse. "Thanks Al" I didn't realize there was a spelling difference.
  13. Yes, one and all "Pelt Rainbows" Good job Tommy The white base ones are called baseballs (you can see why) but yes all rainbows. I collect Rainbows, a bit like Akro corks, I don't believe there is an end to the color combinations they made, every one a little different. I posted hours ago and forgot to submit , DUH !!
  14. Yuuum, Yum, a most deeeliciouse pelt indeed, "Killer Ric " I know I'm a "pelt head" and tend to over react.
  15. I thought I was the lone ranger when it came to Chinese checkers boards and bags, the bag I have is like a cheesecloth type of material and has begun to unwind so I don't move it much, glad to see so many great examples, I really like the one I'llhavethat1's cardboard or chip board or like he said, "whatever it's made of" board, cool lookin, I've never seen one like it. All good each and every one a great piece of history, my little nieces and nephews didn't even know how to paly checkers till I taught them, funny how many things change over time with only a few taking any note. That old cardboard and pressed board sure withstood the test of time, looks almost like it was bought yesterday, the quality of so many of the old board games and toys was outstanding, made to last and take years of use and a little abuse and still perform and look basically like new. " Great submissions all" my folder is looking good much I didn't have in there before, now saved to an external hard drive I have a direct link to so it won't be lost if I crash. The really good thing is I'm free to share it all. The basis of the forum, sharing and learning, I'll say again, "a great place to be"
  16. No kidding, they probably got into scuffles over them.
  17. Cats I get confused on most of the time ?? Transitional's look Japanese from here to me, "not American Agate"
  18. No, and like I said Ric I can't really remember wish I could, if for sure MK or not, just that I had them and after the move they where gone, along with a few other choice items.
  19. For some reason there seems to be a lack of activity both here & AAM , maybe everyone is waiting for taxes or something?? Both forums have about the same amt. of new members, that's about all that's holdin steady, oh well ups and downs. Dead of Winter you'd think the forums would be smokin?? in the mean time we need a masked emoji !! is there one ??
  20. Righto Tommy these last 2 are Akro, I had a real time discerning the Akro patches from other patches, sometimes still do. You're doin great on the I.D.'s man, every once in a while I run into one that's so close, I can't really tell, but yes these last 2 are Akro. Chad G.
  21. Hello Roby if you see this your pm is full and won't accept any messages, I tried to mess. you but it won't let me
  22. I thought he was talking about blue ribbons on a white base, my bad, that's where I was going. In other words there is no MK blue bee!! I don't believe ? Blue bees are the first he mentioned, so I went for those and spaced giving him the names of the others. There are MK bumble bees, red bees and wasps & hybrids for each and almost every other one. I'm gonna stop there to avoid marble overload, T.M.I.
  23. You're welcome Brother, I do believe I'm hooked "again" I been bit so many times by the marble bug it's beginning to look like I have a rash.
  24. Yes !! The Mk names are a little different in some cases than peltier but basically run along the same lines, not sure about the MK blue bee name, the pelt blue bee signifies Blue av. and a slight bluish bleed over of blue from the ribbons to the yellow base glass, not positive but I believe this is some sort of chemical reaction.
  25. I'm totally cereal, We'll see when the Olympics roll around this year and my team is standing proudly at the podium embracing their gold medal with me in the background beaming with pride Chad G. Olympic Synchro. team Coach & Advocate
