  1. Yes you have a few same cane pairs, and looking at the bright colors and unfinished pontils they all appear to be from the English game board (Victorian )era. The Germans made these for the English game boards. I had one that had as far as I know the original marbles to the set, all single color solid core, up to 6 of the same cane. the only lone ranger I had was a powder blue solid core,, just a sec I'll fetch some pics, here's a picture of the board and most of the marbles except the powder blue, most were between .67 & .73" one or 2 a little bigger and a little smaller. When they were all on the board you couldn't tell. The most in one cane I had was the yellow, almost identical but varied slightly in sizes & design, but definitely same cane. the last colors to the set, I can't find a pic of the powder blue finding this many from the same cane is extremaly difficult unless they came packed together as I believe these did. My favorite colors were the orange and the cayenne red. The powder blue was the 33rd mib I kept in the center I couldn't find a date but the box was indeed made in England A large board for it's time considering some of these marbles are close to .75 A board and set that for me was extremely hard to come by, had to be sacrificed in 2009 during a divorce I went through. Trying to find one then was hard enough, I can only imagine trying now. You have a very beautiful set Neil and the mibs look immaculate, well worth holding onto, a few with jellcor lots of black a few double razor ribbons I seen with the bright orange, "personally" I would hold onto all of them except maybe replace the latts. with some more nice ribbon cores the same size.
  2. Galaxy is blue, yellow with av. in the black, the wolverine has no black and no av. Peltier Wolverine courtesy of AAM Blue Galaxy, courtesy of Terry Middleton ( Grandpamarble)
  3. Hello & Welcome Neil Finally another German handmade lover. Appears to be 3 ribbon cores & one solid core. The bright colors and two unfinished pontils are an indicator to me of a manufacture date somewhere between 1880 & 1910. Most of these marbles were made for the English game board market during the Victorian era. The older mibs around 1850 - 1880 "usually" demonstrate faceting on one end and a melted pigtail on the other, sometimes melted to oblivion, there are exceptions I'm just speaking in general terms. Black is a rarer color, looks like you got a good clean set, only 4 latts. any same cane present ??
  4. Well the box sets are almost all completed one more to go, these are fantastic works of art that took Dave many hours to complete, we shared I told him what I liked and this is what he came up with. I am beyond satisfied. If you want his Email just PM me and I have his permission to give it out a few pix of the completed boxes he made for me. This first one is a representation of some pelts "wasp" "bumblebees" "blue galaxy" "golden rebel" all artist interpretations not meant to look like the actual mib but to represent it in form and color complete with av. in the black. A box of wasp and bumble bee flames also complimented with av. present in all the black, and another one of Dave's box designs A side by side of the two, I couldn't have asked for better work, a very happy camper I am. The mib size is around 13/16ths
  5. x 2, Both Akro, I agree very much with Ric on the lazy cork, very nice and clean, one of my "favorite" prize name color combos I have been granted permission by Bob Block, {MCSA} "Marble Collectors Society Of America" to use and share information from the site, a short definition of a corkscrew & qualifications. Hope this helps you a little, I've posted the entire thing on "Akro Friday" I've used definitions & info from this site many times. "A corkscrew need not make a full rotation to be considered a corkscrew. Thus a lazy cork. LINK : https://www.marblecollecting.com/marble-reference/online-marble-id-guide/akro-agate-co/
  6. Sorry folks, English was never my strong point in high school or college and as such I will more than likely continue misspelling words. I will try and watch it in the future so as not to confuse. "Thanks Al" I didn't realize there was a spelling difference.
  7. Yes, one and all "Pelt Rainbows" Good job Tommy The white base ones are called baseballs (you can see why) but yes all rainbows. I collect Rainbows, a bit like Akro corks, I don't believe there is an end to the color combinations they made, every one a little different. I posted hours ago and forgot to submit , DUH !!
  8. Yuuum, Yum, a most deeeliciouse pelt indeed, "Killer Ric " I know I'm a "pelt head" and tend to over react.
  9. I thought I was the lone ranger when it came to Chinese checkers boards and bags, the bag I have is like a cheesecloth type of material and has begun to unwind so I don't move it much, glad to see so many great examples, I really like the one I'llhavethat1's cardboard or chip board or like he said, "whatever it's made of" board, cool lookin, I've never seen one like it. All good each and every one a great piece of history, my little nieces and nephews didn't even know how to paly checkers till I taught them, funny how many things change over time with only a few taking any note. That old cardboard and pressed board sure withstood the test of time, looks almost like it was bought yesterday, the quality of so many of the old board games and toys was outstanding, made to last and take years of use and a little abuse and still perform and look basically like new. " Great submissions all" my folder is looking good much I didn't have in there before, now saved to an external hard drive I have a direct link to so it won't be lost if I crash. The really good thing is I'm free to share it all. The basis of the forum, sharing and learning, I'll say again, "a great place to be"
  10. No kidding, they probably got into scuffles over them.
  11. Cats I get confused on most of the time ?? Transitional's look Japanese from here to me, "not American Agate"
  12. No, and like I said Ric I can't really remember wish I could, if for sure MK or not, just that I had them and after the move they where gone, along with a few other choice items.
  13. For some reason there seems to be a lack of activity both here & AAM , maybe everyone is waiting for taxes or something?? Both forums have about the same amt. of new members, that's about all that's holdin steady, oh well ups and downs. Dead of Winter you'd think the forums would be smokin?? in the mean time we need a masked emoji !! is there one ??
  14. Righto Tommy these last 2 are Akro, I had a real time discerning the Akro patches from other patches, sometimes still do. You're doin great on the I.D.'s man, every once in a while I run into one that's so close, I can't really tell, but yes these last 2 are Akro. Chad G.
  15. Hello Roby if you see this your pm is full and won't accept any messages, I tried to mess. you but it won't let me
  16. I thought he was talking about blue ribbons on a white base, my bad, that's where I was going. In other words there is no MK blue bee!! I don't believe ? Blue bees are the first he mentioned, so I went for those and spaced giving him the names of the others. There are MK bumble bees, red bees and wasps & hybrids for each and almost every other one. I'm gonna stop there to avoid marble overload, T.M.I.
  17. You're welcome Brother, I do believe I'm hooked "again" I been bit so many times by the marble bug it's beginning to look like I have a rash.
  18. Yes !! The Mk names are a little different in some cases than peltier but basically run along the same lines, not sure about the MK blue bee name, the pelt blue bee signifies Blue av. and a slight bluish bleed over of blue from the ribbons to the yellow base glass, not positive but I believe this is some sort of chemical reaction.
  19. I'm totally cereal, We'll see when the Olympics roll around this year and my team is standing proudly at the podium embracing their gold medal with me in the background beaming with pride Chad G. Olympic Synchro. team Coach & Advocate
  20. I recently was introduced to and got my first polymers, now have many more on the way, some great patterns and colors with some already made & others made to my size specifications & color schemes, I'll post the few pics I have now with many more to come. These were made by "Dave Becker" { Blackhawk Agates} I have two custom made 16 count boxes all with layered flame styles in different color schemes coming. The smaller pic of the red flame is one from the 2 new boxes. The sign was made by a good friend of mine, he made 20 or 30, 'I can't really remember" a couple of them for each type of marble I have on display, one for a stand and one to hang. Hard to count all the layering in these mibs, a lot of hard work, all hand made no machines. Some of the best looking polymers I've ever seen, I never thought I would have a polymer mib but this changed my mind. This one just got done yesterday, part of one of the two 16 count boxes he's making, the other box has some completely different mibs in it. The two 16 count boxes already finished, with a custom made wooden one in the works and some of his calligraphy's to fill it also being made, hopefully a couple weeks and I'll have pix of all to share. I'm in no hurry, well worth the wait.
  21. A very underrated mib in "My opinion" some of the best stacked flame patterns I've ever seen made completely by accident I can't get enough of this thread, some great mibs fer sure. Chad G.
  22. Find the pix of Veiligglas flames, just type Veiligglas into the search "some killer lookin mibs" hard to find not beat & with the killer flame pull pattern, There is an outstanding post from last year I can't put my finger on it right now, you found this you'll find it. There's 2 15/16ths killerv Veiligglas pulls on Ebay right now I just looked at tonight, both green & white.
  23. All newer looking to me Tommy !! Anything with the oily carnival glass looking finish like the one on the bottom L and a couple others I see there with the sheen are more than likely a newer Mega or a Vacor no matter the color or surface design they put on the glass.
  24. I'd be the coach of the guys on top in green Steph. Thought you'd recognize me from my picture Yes I taught them everything they know, just look at those moves "Sweeet perfection" Talk about synchronization !! I've been working on their routine for years, and it's looking like all that hard work is finally paying off. "I can almost taste that Olympic Gold"
  25. The last mesh bags I had sprouted wings during a move. Can't even remember what they were, Marble King I believe ?? Chinese Checker bags are hard to come by unopened, kids had a real affinity for them, nice survivor Ric
