Wowzers!

Judging by the condition of many of those, I wouldn't spend more than 15 bucks on them. Nothing more than commons really, but those can be fun to go through. Pelt Zebras can be had in mint condition all day for 10-15 bucks. But with damage....nada. 50 bucks seems like a stretch to me.

Hard to tell for certain from the pics, but it looks like a crackled marble. One thats been heated then cooled very quickly.

thanks Dani. I agree about the backgrounds. And you are correct. Digital cameras, especially point and shoots....try to do all the thinking on what the final picture should look like, and although they do a great job most of the time, they are not 100 percent. Thus the different backgrounds to "fool" the camera.

I use camera flash too. About one foot away. I used to use the dual lamp setup, but its a pain in the butt...takes up too much space. Dani is right about the manual focus and high f-stop (for greater depth of field). You can see two light sources in my photos, but that is because my flash is a twin head. The difference between flash and screw in bulbs is a lot. Your cameras flash has a lot of output power. And its a clean light that you can get rid of the rest of the ambient light with. not saying you cannot use 2 light bulbs, but its not very handy for packing around. I suggest spending about a half hour experimenting with your camera and flash. Different settings, distances, etc. You should find a sweet spot somewhere along the line.

I just put new tires on my truck a week ago....and guess what....no date. Seriously, trying to force anybody to sign/date anything is crazy in my opinion. Its the crooks that try to pass it off as old that suck. And its also the fault of the buyer for not educating themselves...period. If you got the coin to gamble thats fine, but if getting burned is gonna hurt you then you need to research. I find no fault with someone "reproducing" things. Heck, look at cast iron toys/banks...there are many, many items reproduced....and its all ligit.

I would imagine that retaining some share of the patent would allow him to still use it. Not sure if he would get a cut though. That kind of paperwork may be all but impossible to find.
