  1. Interesting find - some of them are a little odd... like the Tracer looking one on the left side in 2nd pic.
  2. Mine made also - looking forward to it!
  3. This seller has listed a ton of bags over the last many months. It appears they have had access to or purchased original Jabo headers and are packaging their own bags. At first, it was sorting out different types of "old" Jabos by color, pattern, etc. I had emailed the seller and was told they were packaging marbles that they had bought from Jabo over the years. Now, it is including bags of Investor run marbles. The link is below for one of the bags. My question is this - is this seller doing this for Jabo - meaning that Jabo is packaging these or profiting from the sales? If not, why would Jabo be letting them use their name and headers in packaging these marbles? It gives the impression that these are bags of marbles that were packaged by Jabo. Unlike the fantasy bags where people make fake or fantasy headers, these are real Jabo headers and, Jabo is still in business - right? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bag-of-50-3-4-E-T-CRYSTAL-INVESTOR-RUN-Jabo-Marbles-/261095668708?pt=Marbles&hash=item3cca83bbe4 Thoughts?
  4. Odus's find was a good one and the marbles are in great shape!
  5. This was from one of the Vegas Shows back a few years...
  6. Good to hear - keep 'em rolling...
  7. One of the co-authors is a member of this board. I think he has ones to sell. Search for his handle under the members tab above (under "P") for psia-antiques and message him.
  8. Here's a picture of one that Pete showed back in 2008 and another pictures someone else posted. I know some of the bands are on real marbles to begin with and others in "shells".
  9. Now, I have to go look for that box of them that I have...
  10. You dun good, Rich! You've got a good eye for those. Some of those with more than 3 colors are the scarce ones. I always remember this one of marblealan's - sold for $47 back in 2008
  11. First glance, the colors made me think Vacor - almost like Hurricane style, but pattern in other pics is more busy than Vacor so...?
  12. Closest thing Vacor/Mega that I can find is the Dragon - here is one pic. Some of the older Vacor styles had really sharp, bright colors. I threw in three pictures of an older Twister, for example.
  13. Doesn't look like Imperial to me but doesn't ring a bell with any uS ones. Foreign but where?
  14. Chuck doesn't post much (first one...?) on the boards but he makes a great point with this post. Main thing that I see for people attending a show - find some way to help the promoters of the show - money, time, advertising (put the word out in your area) or even marbles that they can sell at a silent auction to raise funds (especially when it is a club putting on the show). And then, have fun!
  15. I agree with you, Smitty. Obviously you want lots of people to attend the show and the in-room trading but they should kick in something. I know when I first started collecting and attended a couple of shows, I did not sell so did not need a table but I put some money "in the jar" to help cover the costs of the show to the person(s) putting it on. You might feel "bad" about doing this but I would suggest putting together a small flyer and handing it out to everyone (who doesn't have a table) asking for "donations" to help offset costs of the show. I'm sure that the majority of the collectors (who are 95%+ great people) will kick in something. Of course, money can't compensate for the headaches of people complaining about where their room is located and why can't they get in at 10 am - hey, tell them it is the hotel's policy that check-in time is 3:00 (or whatever it is) and you don't control the previous occupants of the room nor the cleaning staff, etc. I've "mentioned" that to a couple collectors over the years that were complaining to the show host(s). It may not make me a "friend" but it takes the host(s) off the hook a little (since he/she probably wanted to say the same thing).
  16. As others have said, thanks for sharing. The trip through the marble factories reminds me of the one we did in 2005 with Howard and Ron . Things have changed, as you said. Sounds like you had a great week!
  17. What was Leo's Run then? 2nd run or...?
  18. It is good to hear some positive news. Still keeping your family in my thoughts!
  19. One thing to remember is that a Peltier multicolor swirl is generally a transparent swirl and when backlit, you can see the green glass (or sometimes another color) base glass. The Mega (Vacor) hurricanes are opaque.
  20. Just scroll over the members name on the upper left of the post - box will appear and PM is one of the choices.
  21. Hey, where did you get my high school entrance exam...? LOL!
