  1. Ally did not use his name on any packaging. I believe Alley was a name used for certain types of marbles way before Mr Alley started making marbles. And was used for those boxes of marbles because it was a known name for marbles.
  2. Did not mean to suggest it was one of the new run marbles,
  3. All I found were a bunch of Business headers and newspaper pages under Painted sulfhide marbles?
  4. That reversing twist is a fairly common trait on machine made marbles. It has be duplicated on purpose recently by Dave Mccullough in his marble making ventures. Many of them also have the cold rolls seen on this marble.
  5. Has the reversing twist found on a lot of the Pelts and many other makers
  6. Looks all Master "Tiger eye" type to me
  7. I believe the marble in question was made by Bernhard Glausmaken
  8. I could not rule out Alley.
  9. The marbles from the purchase look Foreign to me and a whole lot like the "Canadian Types" Many folks(including long time collectors) consider any red and white handgathered with out a rough pontil American Agates.
  10. I shall do so shortly, I have sold over 40 American Agates and Prima Agates in the last couple of years so I am missing a lot I could have taken pictures of, Here is a Prima Box I got a long time ago that had a mix in it It is on top of the soldier box. And a bunch of others I have had and another AA box that is not mine
  11. I question that marble being an American Agate , ( too much like a 9 Red too red and White too Opaque IMO.
  12. No one I know of. And grading on marbles is so varied and subjective I would really question anyone that says they can give a fair accurate and honest appraisal on a varied collection. I would imagine there are some folks that could give a fair estimation on what a marble may sell for at auction but even the top marble auction estimates are always way under or over on their guesses , Just my opinion, I figure most of my marbles are worth at least what I paid for them or have been offered for them
  13. Pete over at LOM sells the ground cullet marbles that the Chinese are producing. Like the 1st marbles in this thread
  14. Could very well be aventurine if microscopic needle like sparkles. If some of the new Jabos it could also be mica flakes but they are larger and flat, Microscopic fracturing is also common in some glass types and looks like little sparkles(Akro red is one color)
  15. Absolutely not a hand gathered artifact. It is a machine made defect. Glass got pulled out then pushed back in. Often called nipples it is a fairly common defect often confused by new collectors for a pontil mark. Machine made swirls do not have cutlines
  16. There is clear over and under the Black
  17. Green looks Alley also
  18. One of our great West Coast Artists and a fellow fisherman
