  1. That is a nice Akro with the av and look at those eyelashes.
  2. The transparent blue and oxblood with a little white is CAC. I have the dug exact matching cullet with it.
  3. Good to know that Dave Becker is still kicking and making marbles.
  4. Alley Tater bugs are yellow base, with either brown swirl or green swirl, or orange swirl, or lavender swirl.
  5. When I gave Morgan the sad news. He got very quiet and then he went for a long walk by his self. I don't think Morgan went to a marble show after this.
  6. The blue and tan is a Robins Egg. The Rotten Robins Egg is more blue base and a dark redish brown swirl. The green and white is the Cucumber. The dark purple base and lavender swirl is the Beauty Berry and hard to find. Heatons are all swirls or cat eyes. Snake is usually only attributed with Akro. Ribbon is usually a more straight line of color in a patch and ribbon marble. Or just a ribbon marble like a Pelt Citrus has six ribbons. Sometimes a normal ribbon marble or patch and ribbon marble will twist like a swirl. Most of the marbles with ribbons are Peltier, Vitro, MK, Akro, etc. The Heaton Blackberry is a dark purple, black looking base with purple swirl and some contain a small amount of white along with the purple swirl. Check out the named Heaton's thread here by Chuck(cheese). He did a great job with the pictures and actual items that the marbles were named from. Pictures are better than trying to type words into colors.
  7. Thankful that the new owner allowed us to save these. I saw marbles during every dig that none of had ever seen before. Plus I have dug at Heaton off and on for 20 years. But never got three and four feet deep before. Lots of good friends from several different states took part in the digs. I made it to each and every one from daylight until dark each time. Lots of people had enough by 12 to 2 pm and left tired and wore out. Digging marbles any place is getting very close to being all in the past.
  8. Hi Ric: That is two different Heaton marbles. The Heaton digs the last year has sure turned up some unseen ones. I saw Heatons during every dig that not one of us had ever seen before. So happy that the new owner allowed us to save what we could. They could have all been buried under fill, stone and concrete.
  9. Size and condition are big factors in antique hand made marbles. Tinted glass is a plus. But sometimes the glass can get a tint from being exposed to lots of bright sunlight. The yellow latticino is a odd or unusual one. Condition looks very good on both. They are probably worth in the $15.00- $25.00 range each. They have to be rare or even better, larger size to go into the $50.00-$500.00 range. If they were two inch size they would be in the hundreds.
  10. All Alleys. The top four are nice ones and sought after. The top one in the second group looks like is has aventurine. Plus the Shimmering Spruce and a couple average flames.
  11. I am lost ? What did you think ? Was there a question ? I missed something.
  12. Just do not rely on ebay listings for marble identification. There are many more marbles listed wrong on ebay than correct. Some intentional and some not.
  13. I would not consider them as flames or sell them as flames. Champion swirls, or flame wan-a-bs.
  14. The very earliest Akro marbles were hand gathered slags. This is not early or hand gathered or a slag. I also have high doubt of Akro. To me it also looks like Jabo classic. What size is it ? Hand made marbles are made totally by hand. This marble was made on a machine for sure. It is a swirl marble which Akro made very very few of. I have never seen or heard of any Akro swirl with this color.
  15. I have some rare hard to find nice wet mint swamp land, that I should list on ebay.
  16. No oxblood in any of them. No Pelt Citrus. Peltier Citrus marbles have six ribbons.
  17. Lawrence Alley first made marbles 1929 in Ravenswood WV. Next he made marbles 1929-30 at Paden City WV. Next he made marbles 1931 at Sistersville WV. Next he made marbles 1932 in Pennsboro WV. The last place Alley made marbles 1938 was St.Marys W.V. Which he sold this factory and contents 1949 to what became Marble King at St. Marys WV. It burned down and Marble King moved to Paden City WV where it is in operation today.
  18. You are to fat already ! Stop in at Chucks house for breakfast.
  19. Hope you find some nice ones this week at Decatur.
  20. It is much easier if we all help each other and share. So much different the last ten years than my first ten or fifteen years. So much more information and shared much more. Information is more accurate and will continue to get more accurate in the future. So many more people now searching for answers. Some old myths are being replaced, but some still won't go away just yet. More time, more people, more information, all better.
