Not that I remember. But it is one that could slip past very easy. I will watch some Vitros closer now and also be looking for newer Marble Kings.
-
Black and any other color. Hybrids and any Popeye with true oxblood.
-
I would keep it separated from usual normal Vitros. Maybe someday more will show up. I have very high doubts that there was just one. I think it is later or newer for Vitro maybe 1960's-1970's. So there should be some more survivors yet. Would be interesting to know if there are other color combinations ? Something more to hunt.

I stopped at $996.00 . I think $996.00 would have been cheap. But the final price is what I expected. I think $1500.00 or more would be on the high side. A few years back. I sold two of these with less count, with the slags for $1000.00 and $1200.00. This one was in nice condition. According to Gino B. one of mine was a rare one with a low count number. I cannot remember if it was 18-21 or 24 marbles.

Maybe it is a reverse Whitie, LOL. It is opposite of the later clear transparent base Whities. Later Whities=clear base with a colored ribbon around the center and white on each side of the center ribbon. Gladys marble looks clear base with white ribbon around the center and transparent blue on each side. Just the reverse of the later Whities. It would have been easy to make. Just reverse the colors in the feed system, while making routine Whities. It is possible. Maybe someone was very sleepy on night shift. I know some collectors who would call it a special experimental. I think most times experimental means mistake. We have seen several strange Vitro Tiger eyes that did not fit the usual type 1,2,3 or 4. For a while we had a type 5 and 6 Tiger Eye but they are very hard to find. I think it is likely a Vitro. But Marble King could be possible. But none that I am familiar with.

In order of HTF I would say the nice bright thick red transparent face helmets are the most difficult. Next would be the thin red transparent face helmets. Next would be the opaque black face helmets. Black face helmets. ReR Red face helmet

A nice killer Alley with metallic. I have some that match this one. A messed up Akro cork. Akro cork color combo for sure. Vitro messed up twisted Yellow Jacket. Maybe from a Miller machine LOL.

Normal Vitro Blackie has a dark band or ribbon around or near the center, with a different color on each side of the center ribbon. Vitro Anti Blackie a collector name has no dark color at all. A colored band around the center, other than a dark black looking band or ribbon, with a different color one each side of the center ribbon. Reverse Blackie a collector name, has a dark black looking base(transparent green, amber, brown) with a colored stripe other than dark looking black band or ribbon around the center. These were also sold as Blackies by Vitro. These are the later Blackies, the opaque white base Blackies are the early ones. Ori Original Vitro Blackie opaque white base with a black or dark band or ribbon around or near the center, with a different color (not dark like the center ribbon)of the same color on each side of the ribbon around the center.

Excellent thread and pictures. I agree totally with, if it is one of these above wirepull and stacked flame types. I put them with Veiligglas with a chance of 5% or 10% possible German. With new and more accurate information that may very well change sometime in the future. But until then the best information I have at the current time is that they are most likely Veiligglas. We need to be willing to change with new and more accurate information about any marbles.

The color combination and less twisting swirling points to later years St. Marys location. These are probably the largest numbers of marbles of any one color combination that Alley prodcued at St.Marys.
-
I am with Akro because of the cut lines and the color combination. Popeye patch.
-
I don't know that anyone has any proof that any of the wirepulls types above were produced in Germany. I have no doubts that Veiligglas company marbles were packaged and sold in Germany. We were searching for proof from actually made in Germany when Winnie finally found the evidence of the Veiligglas factory and its history. Maybe someone has proof of any machine made marble factory in Germany. There most likely was but we just have not found any proof yet that I am aware of. Years past most were just labeled as European swirls or German wirepulls. I know WWII destroyed much of any evidence there may have been.

I am with Champion. Not all Asian marbles have the shiney sheen. Many companies including US companies have marbles with the shiney sheen. I sprayed hundreds and hundreds at Jabo and gave them the shiney sheen or chrome look. Chrome or shiney sheen marbles also from Champion. Jabo, Mid Atlantic, etc.

Jabo. Heaton never made any this large.

There is no Peltier Carnellian.

Nothing new about the bags, mesh or plastic both with the cards attached, of Paul Bunyan marbles. Still lots of questions and no proven answers. Just speculation, assumptions, memories, and guesses. Lots of different answers, pointing three different directions, all these years.
-
Yes the Shoe String bag has three Paul Bunyans. So far I only know of maybe four of these bags ever found. They are all in WV not far from Ravenswood, with three people that I know of.

Maybe they will find a sleeping devil to buy it ? If so, then they deserve it. Lucky that it is to far away for me. Or no one would have a chance, LOL.

I hope Beri can keep Marble King in operation for a few more years. Each year it is more difficult and she like many of us now, has health issues.

OK ! Yes ! Once a machine made marble company has been in business for a number of years, The possible different colors and even shades of different colors runs out. The are some colors and shades of color that are unique to one company. But most times the unique color is a unique combination of colors. Like, Akro, Peltier, Vitro, Alley, etc. is there a single color or shade of color that they never ever had on any marble ? People say that is a Peltier blue. What blue did Peltier have that Akro Vitro or other big ling life companies did not have on some marble ? When you make a million or ten million marbles a week, for years and years. What color or shade of color did not happen ? Colors are very important for identifications. But most times it is not one single color, but a combination. Good examples above, similar color combinations, but for sure different companies.

One inch and 7/8 Jabo and Alleys still fool me every few months. But each year a little less.
