  1. cool, I believe there is an older Superman one with similar motif
  2. I should be able to dig out a couple oddballs soon, working on unpacking other stuff today (it's a long process).
  3. Oooo, I'd have to waffle on the fence on some of them being non-US, but some nice lookers there.
  4. Nice effect. Lighter blue one closest to the lens might be worth a couple more angles
  5. I agree it appears to have some age to it. but there weren't too many people making Latts between ~1920 (German) and ~1980 (Contemporary). I heard (take it with a grain of salt) there were some handmades, made in South America, after WW1 . Doesn't look Boro to me and it would be surprising if a modern maker would have spent the time to initial this example vs. scrap it. Questions in my mind: has the auction ended yet? What do the other marbles look like? Where is the seller located?
  6. Definitely looks "off" for a vintage German. The Latt core is puzzling (yes I know lots of people have been, and still making them for decades).
  7. Nice pictures. Agree with Chad on the first one. Sometimes the orange/yellow glass formulation resulted in those weird bubbles on wirepulls
  8. I used a hollow tube metal tube, ~3ft long, jammed it into the grass and set the marble on top. With my whopping 5MP camera at the time, thought these turned out pretty true to condition and colors as seen in-hand.
  9. Alley to me. Other than the colors there is nothing that looks Pelt imho. And the cutlines/colors look more Alley as well. Nice marble
  10. If you haven't purchased the lot yet, maybe you can ask the seller for better photos if that's the only marble holding you up. If you decide to pass on the lot, please PM me.
  11. Should I maybe have used the term counterclockwise twist? The OP's marble in question has some odd features, a nice looker though. Example of counterclockwise twist below
  12. Surprised no-one mentioned the left hand twist?
  13. If they are oval/egg shaped they weren't meant to be marbles. The ones shown in the book are not glass.
  14. Most marbles will show a color when strongly backlit (blue/purple/etc.) What's the size?
  15. First two pics are the same marble, right? I agree the red/white/green looks more familiar to a Pelt color combo, but the seams scream Alley. Maybe the pic order got switched up at some point. Nice marbles either way
  16. looks more like a big ol' cold roll mark to me. A lot of industrial grade "clearies" didn't have the same type of quality control as marbles (meant for kids to play with)
  17. fresh, finally getting thru some stuff
  18. Books are a great way to start but the Forums are also valuable. Just because it was printed doesn't make it true and even in the last few years there are notable improvements as we all learn, bounce things off each other and share opinions. Marble on indeed!
