This is not facebook ---this is the real thing.

There's good most everywhere, but this is a very nice thing for you to say. Thanks to all who have gotten this place lively again. -
Bahahahaha! Good one! Rick, OP = Original Post in a thread ... or Original Poster who started the thread.
-
I agree foreign to the U.S. I do love the ones which look really close to something which could be from the U.S. though ... and a nice big size.
-
I think Alley on the right. My first thought was Vitro on the bottom but I could see possibly Akro. Maybe Champion or Alley on the left. For the top I just go with "transparent swirl".
-
Thank you both. I've never thought I would never have another again. We still have two of course, but I don't think it's possible for us to be without a cat. I will say not another kitten. Punkin has made me think I could be good at taking care of another special needs cat, but an older one. Punkin and Bear were the last kittens for me.

We lost Punkin last night. We never found for sure what was causing his weight loss but the vet's final thoughts were that he was his liver, and was only a matter of time. Such a sweet spirit.

Since it's Chuck and it's on this forum, I guess I should head over to a Heaton thread first.

Someone had posted pictures on Facebook of some marbles that I had hoped could possibly be the mysterious Du-Lites. That's what prompted this thread. Someone else has now posted similar ... or maybe it's the same person posting a second time. Here's the new post -- the group is set to private so that means you need to be a member pf the group to see it: Vitro Marbles : Anyone have any info on this box | Facebook Here's a screenshot. So this is what I had been hoping were Du-Lites.

#2 is gorgeous! (I agree Master.)

What Started Your Marble Obsession?
Steph replied to PittsburghMarbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I got a small group of marbles for nostalgic reasons. They were modern. Then I was showing them to an antique dealer acquaintance and she said those weren't ones that people were interested in. That hurt my feelings a little and made me try to learn which ones were the good ones. My nostalgia was largely inspired by a bunch of clearies from super peewee to boulder size which Santa put in my stocking in 1976. I also have memories of all-reds I would have gotten new in the 1960's and bumblebees that I would have seen when they were nearly new. So that's why I decided to get "just a few" marbles. -
Following. Green might get you started along the way to having a Kato, but I don't know if it goes far enough.
-
Thanks, Ron. I thought about thinking about one of the long-gone marble makers. Then I decided the colors looked way too new so I didn't let my mind go further back than a later-era Champ. But I still have reservations since Gladys has so many of them together. Any thoughts about that? Gladys, did any other marbles come with those?
-
Having that many together sent me to the Billes-en-tete page to see if I would recognize the color combo. I did not see a match. So, possibly Champion. Or maybe one of the modern Asians which resemble Vacors? Or still potentially Vacor. Or Jabo. One of my first thoughts was actually Mid-Atlantic. But I don't think the brown works for that.

We've have a few marble run designers spend some time at the forum. We started this subforum for them: Marble Runs & Marble Games - Marble Connection Possibly the most intricate -- definitely the most famous -- was Jelle Bakker. Some of his Youtube videos went viral. They took off when he had a very professional sounding announcer do play-by-play for some of his marble races. But his videos have disappeared from the two threads that I peeked at just now. That's odd. He still has a Youtube channel. With over a million subscribers. Jelle's Marble Runs - YouTube This young man's father has shared some of what he and his boy have done together: SUPERDASH MARBLES - YouTube So both of those feature races, rather than highly technical machines, but Jelle has a wide variety of runs. I just don't have a good link right now for his more technical ones. I'm definitely being unfair to just single those two out. I need to revisit some of our other marble run makers' threads.

Welcome. I'm getting caught up with some older posts after slacking for awhile. I like your modern Marble King cat's eyes.
-
I confidently say Modern Marble Kings. I think with white instead of green it's a less common variation.
-
Nice to have another JABO afficionado.
-
Well, that was a pretty bad typo. Bibi batted Punkin some weeks ago. 19.2 pound Bibi versus teeny tiny Punkin. Punkin and Bear attack each other a lot but Bear's paws don't carry the wallop that Bibi's can. Now though we feel pretty safe with Bibi and Punkin near each other.

Master, Pelt and ???? I'll guess Champion.

The print may be hard to read on that, but the town was actually in a heat wave that July. Then workmen uncovered a buried snowbank from the spring. And winter fun ensued.
-
Two Rivers, Wisconsin has Ethnic Fest, Apple Fest, Kites over Lake Michigan, many more. One interesting one is Snow Fest. In July. Celebrating this fun find from 1936.

Little ones working on their new clubhouse ....

A sobering remembrance.
