  1. I'll bump it for you. I could see them all being Alley but I can see why you'd wonder about #1.

    More help plz!

Top to bottom on left: 1. Might be a Japanese Wales style marble. (Or could be a Vitro Conqueror -- really need to see the seams on that one.) 2. Don't know. Maybe Vitro. 3. Probably Master. 4. Master 5. Not sure. Marble King? Master? Vitro? Modern? On right: 1. I started to say Vitro, but I suppose Peltier is also in the running. 2. Not seeing enough features 3. I think Vitro 4. Not sure, maybe Vitro 5. Definitely Vitro. A Tri-lite. An off-center Helmet. 1930's.
  3. Cutlines and seams on machine-made marbles. Not "pontils". The green one on the right might also have a cold roll.
  4. I agree Jabo. I agree less than a dollar. I don't know what it would be called other than Jabo Classic. Just fun to play around with lighting.
  5. I'll never remember! So you have to make sure to hang around to keep things straight!
  6. After many years out of the workforce, I got a job. A manual labor job. So I'm tired! I'm going to have to seriously discipline myself to set time aside to fix the broken photobucket links in many of my Study Hall threads.
  7. If an older marble, then matte finish would likely mean time spent in water, such as in an aquarium or dump (or privy). Newer marbles are given some sort of treatment (I think acid wash) to get a matte finish.
  8. Oh yes, you can assume Akro if you have a distinct corkscrew. For sure Akro on top. I would say for sure Akro on the middle but the jagged ribbon made me wonder. The top of the middle one is pure Akro. The frosted finish means there's no point in assigning it a grade. It would be the lowest grade on the mint scale. Probably spent a lot of time in water. But with that strange structure it might still generate some interest.
  9. The last picture is mostly Peltier Rainbos. The bottom might be Master though those colors strike me as unusual. The top two groups are a lot of West Virginia Swirls, including for sure some Alley Agates.

    Be fun

With that U-shape in the ribbon, Jabo is a possibility.
  11. The bottom is a Peltier Multicolor Rainbo. A National Line era marble. The top one is beautiful. The zig zag in the orange one is odd.

Yes. Vacor. I like the backlighted photo. Some surprising things have been found inside those practically black marbles.

    Help with ID

Hi. Welcome. My brain is mush today but I wanted to say hi. The bottom row looks like West Virginia swirls. The top left ... that pattern looks like the "horseshoe" shape of some Vitro cat's eyes, but my brain isn't making sense of the color distribution between the ribbons.
  15. Oh the suspense I felt when I saw that title! I was hopeful that you had your Carnelian. But I'm going to say Peltier Rainbo.

    Old swirl

Ah. Well, Jabo is my best guess. 1990's aren't all that far from 1985.
  17. Steph

    Id?

Maybe Akro on the top. Then Akro on #2. Master on #3. Maybe another Master on #4?? Peltier Rainbo on the bottom.

    Old swirl

I agree a good chance of Jabo based on both size and pattern. That would put it after 1990. With an Alley (the most likely older candidate for a 1" marble) the swirl pattern would tend to be crisper. It would be easier to see what color was the ribbon and what color was the base. Robwell, what led you to think it would be old? The crease you're showing in the first two photos is called a "cold roll". The marble was just a little bit too cool to for the molten glass to be completely smoothed out on its ride down the rollers.

    Mints

It's a style which is still being made so it would be really hard to pin down an age.

    MFC "9"

Yeah, I'll go Alley because of size and pattern.
  21. Ooops, I'm behind with my reading. My life just got extra busy as of Friday. Yes, that's a nice swarm of Marble King Bumblebees.
