A couple of people (Letitia and Tim B.) posted these pics on facebook and I loved the simlarity yet difference. West Virginia swirls versus Jabos. The swirls ribbons happen to fluoresce. Don't yet know if that is significant. So this hopefully shows how it's at least a little bit easier to identify the opaque glass as a "ribbon" and the transparent glass as the "base" in the WV swirl, while in the Jabo it's harder to pick out which glass would be the ribbon and which glass would be the base.

LOLOL Between the names and the commentary and stray thoughts about the physics of the course and the physics of the marbles .... that was fantastic. You and your new associate are a winning combination. I don't want to give any spoilers ... but at the end of the race I thought "Everyone will want to know what kind of marble that one was ... he's fast!" .... Also had a stray thought about the stud fees you could get for him.

Good job. You worked hard for those.

I've added that to my list. Not in the mood to watch a new series right now. But it's on the list. (I have a .txt file called "Lists" for goodies like this.)

George gives 1948 to 1957 as estimates for that box style (without the cellophane and cutout). Also the bag is likely to be from the 1950s.

Checked with George. He pointed out that it's the same box as in Marble Mania, p. 108. The only one he's seen like that. He's been pondering this one off and on for a long time.

It's a handsome marble. If it doesn't already have a name it should be named after some exotic wood. We can keep bumping this until Ric shows up.

I have figured out how to add some new emoticons. AND I figured out how to find some of the old emoticons. They've been there the whole time but I had to click an extra button or two to get to 'em. Check in the first group. Just called "Emoticons". I see three rows. 21 emoticons. But that group actually has 51 emoticons in it. Go to the top right of the Emoticons menu and click on Categories. From there I can get to the full list of the 51.

LOL, Chad. I have no idea what we just saw but it was great. Thanks for the heads up, John. I had seen one of Jelle's marble races making the rounds on Facebook and was happy for him. I had no idea he made the news. I've posted a congratulations thread in the marble run forum for the next time he checks in.
