  1. Thank you! Another of my best. Unfortunately it has a fracture but it doesn't in these pics. I don't know when or how it happened. Just appeared one day.
  2. Nice volcano in those Heatons Mojo. Nice Alleys Marboman.
  3. A recent find. A bunch of St. Mary's Alleys that all stayed together through all the years. A group pic and then shots of all the different types separated into groups. Common marbles but I like to find them this way.
  4. New old stock was available for sale at the Museum of American glass in West Virginia at one time. I think they were 14 bucks or something like that. Not sure if they still are.
  5. Yeah Ric, my camera fails miserably when yellow is involved. I don't know why. It throws the color balance way off, these aren't true to color. I can get a little better results doing one marble at a time but still have problems. Here is a better representation of the colors. Thanks Gladys!
  6. Funny, I just took a pic of this box a few nights ago before putting them away. Two types in the box I think. I've been calling the bright red/yellow ones hot wheels and leaving the darker ones like the one in the bottom right corner with the pumpkin designation.
  7. Great pics! Nice to put a face to the name Ric! Love the dug marbles! One more pic for the thread
  8. No, it has no name that I know of.
  9. Good description Ric. Also in the top left you see a "fern" pattern, which normally indicates Alley.
  10. The Heaton Sweet potato, a group of presentation photos demonstrating the reason they got their name and several examples of the different types. I was weeding the garden today and decided to pull up one of the sweet potatoes to check and see how they are doing. This was the biggest one I could feel in the dirt, so I grabbed it and one thing led to another Also, when you cut into a fresh sweet potato, you get a white milky sap that beads up on it. Makes it match even more.
  11. Thanks, I think it's probably part of the "Lilac" family from the 1980s.
  12. Cool, no problem Ric! I like it way better than a purple Tater anyway, that marble is one of very few in it's class.
  13. That purple hazy part over the ribbon is pretty common on the Sistersvilles. I wonder if the taterbugs might have been an attempt to recreate them. The pattern and glass both say sisters to me with that batch glass and wider striated ribbon in a wavy flag flame pattern with the drawn out tips. Either way it's a total killer marble! I could make room for that one any day Here are a couple with a little of that purple over the ribbon from Sistersville.
  14. I think I posted these here before? Anyway, some nice chalkies:
  15. Nice CAC! I still haven't picked up a RWB one of those. Anything I post will pale after that LOL, so here's some Alley RWB cullet.
  16. This evening my 6 year old niece and nephew are spending the night. I was out at the shop doing some work and my niece was walking around looking at the ground and talking. She is always talking, non-stop, so I wasn't paying much attention. After a while I realized she was saying "This just isn't my lucky day". I asked her why, and she said "because I can't find any marbles". I realized she was walking around in the area where I have cleaned thousands of dirty heatons and she has been finding broken marbles and bits of glass there. So when she wasn't looking, I put some pieces on the ground and stomped them in the dirt with my boot. I went back to the project I was working on and suddenly she exclaims loudly "This IS my lucky day after all! I can't believe how lucky I am!!!" Made my day, she doesn't know it. She got a few whole marbles to keep in her find.
  17. That last Ravenswood you posted is killer Ric! Lots of nice Handmades there Chad! One more
  18. Thanks Ric! A few more. Getting to the point where I can't remember which ones I've posted already but I think these are not repeats.
