Yes the base glass comes in many other transparent colors, just like a slag, Christensen submarines are (Extremely rare) %& very expensive. They hardly ever come up for sale.

Good one man !! Your top pic appears to be a Master, & I'm not positive on the second ?? Hang in there, you'll get there, wherever there is ?? Christensen Striped Transparent Transparent colored glass with stripes of opaque white or another opaque coloron or near the surface only. Examples of the opaque colors going inside the marble are called submarines and are very, very rare. Christensen Striped transparent Slags are a single stream of transparent glass with opaque white swirled in, on the surface and in almost every case inside the marble as well. Christensen double seam Slag Christensen Submarine (very, very rare) Once you hold one of these in your hand you'll never forget or mistake them again, the same with a striped transparent, though there are some German machine mades that come close, there is usually a much larger gap at the seams of the German made striped transparents or striped opaque's, alot to soak in I know but with your amount of enthusiasm you'll get there

The base glass looks to be a kind of reddish amber color to me, not transparent clear, the link I posted is about the best info I can find on snotty's. Yours looks more like a W. Va. manufactured marble, ribbons & base are wrong & yes (horsehair) would definitely disqualify it as a snotty. Hopefully someone more well versed in Christensen will chime in, I'm at the end of my knowledge on this subject.

A great discussion Bo, I'm not a Christensen expert either. From what I understand the opaque strands can be different colors but the base glass is always transparent colorless in a snotty, the base glass looks yellow in your pics , just wondering where the yellow is coming from ?? Pictured is mine, yes !! the opaque striations do fluoresce under uv. This one, the Alley doesn't fluoresce even a little, a transparent yellow base. Another snotty, pics & link courtesy of AAM LINK : https://www.allaboutmarbles.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=27202&p=211937&hilit=Christensen+snotty#p211937

Fingers is a term more commonly used in (8 finger Vitro marbles, different from cats) cats have vane and go by distinct names caged, banana, hybrid cat, etc. six vane, eight vane, 9 vane etc... 6 vein 8 vane Vitro 8 fingers Just a heads up, this link shows both Imperials & Vitro 8 fingers, hopefully this info helps ya out & will clear some thigs up a little for you. LINK : https://marbleconnection.com/topic/24001-imperial-or-vitro-8-fingers/ Just trying to eliminate any confusion, many collectors have nicknamed some marbles but certain hopefully "permanent" names have been given, some have changed & continue to change with time & I've found it takes almost continual monitoring to keep up.

Yous looks very similar to an Alley I have with the yellow base glass & white swirls running in out & around it very similar to CAC except the color of the base glass & the thickness of the swirl structure. A beautiful marble, I had this with my CAC for a very long time before I realized my miss I.D. A lot of Alleys have been I.D. as CAC in the past, corals & flames just to mention a few, I'm still doing the shuffle just like everyone else. Maybe a little improvement as more and more provenance is revealed.

Yes only one Pelt Rainbo this time, a nice variety here !! Good for further side by side I.D. practice., though there are variances in every manufacture, fear not you will get better at it quicker than you think, hang in there !!

A nice toothpick !!

Ah 11 yes, can't wait to see your score, a couple bucks each is excellent !!
-
I looked & looked William, just to satisfy my curiosity & keep you from getting taken to the bank. Nothing as you said, not even a close facsimile. I checked vintage, antique, Etsy, new, old sales, everywhere, notta !!
-
Modern for sure, I can't even I.D. it, positively not Pelt, worthless !! 1 cent maybe !! Excuse my rant everyone, just upset a bit !!

Not even close, all their auctions are bunk, they have been flagged several times over the last year, on the questionable sellers list countless times on AAM, look at their store items, Wow !! I'm surprised they've gotten away with it as long as they have Ebay must really be lenient to people who make them a lot of money !! Purposefully misleading, & what is labeled right is astronomical in price !! LINK : https://www.ebay.com/itm/265196556002?hash=item3dbef24ee2:g:qzsAAOSwB4xgx-0o&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&customid=link&campid=5338437662&toolid=20001&mkevt=1 Yes a common 9 vane cat but look at the price, Crazy !! I feel for anyone new to stumble onto their store !! LINK : https://www.ebay.com/itm/265226223931?hash=item3dc0b7013b:g:2skAAOSwWrdge0rl I could go on & on but prefer not to look at their junk, it just angers me to no end !!!

Pfff !! look at the sellers other mibs in their store, they are well known "more" than questionable sellers, they know "exactly" what they're doing, and what they're selling. Most of their mibs have been there for months, waiting !! As to the I.D. , "Yes" I agree with "Vitro" have some and will try and take a few pix today as long as I can find them, buried in one of several jars !! I'll give er a whirl anyway.
-
Hmm !! I'm thinking Akro patch ??
-
-
Thanks for setting me straight Ron, I need to slow down for sure, the bacon like ribbons in the middle one are a dead giveaway, my bad !!
-
Yes !! A killer mib !! 100 % keeper in my book !!
-
-
Yes Correct !! A good example of a CAC Snotty, good to have one in hand like that, now you will be able to I.D. them more easily !!
-
Peltier Rainbo West Virginia swirl ( probably Alley as the manufacture) Unsure as to manufacture of this one ?? Another W. Va. swirl W.Va. possibly Cairo ?? From just this one view all four "look like" Akro corkscrews !! "Jabo" Christensen Agate Company ( CAC ) "Snotty" I left # 8 out, I believe it to be another Pelt Rainbo ??
-
It almost looks like an early classis run Jabo, or maybe a gaming marble ?? The "But Crack" really has me going but the fold could occur in other glass as well !!
-
A peltier (MCS) Multi colored Swirl with oxblood & a link on oxblood from here on MC for you !! I hope this helps ya out !! Agree with Bruce, a much disputed subject, (meaning has been stretched to no end) LNIK : https://marbleconnection.com/topic/11094-who-used-oxblood/
