I don't recall seeing any crossthrus in that size. I wonder if any of the newer Vacor peewee cat's are crossthru types - usually they are not but...?

Here are some pics of aventurine (group one is Dani's from May 2008 and Golden Rebel is Patry's). Green, IMHO, is the most common aventurine in cat's-eyes. Otherwise the sparkly aventurine in black is common in other types, especially Peltiers. People use terms, red, black, green, yellow, etc. aventurine. That is just the color where the 'sparkly' shows up. Aneturine, in more of a metallic form, shows up sometimes like 'dirt streak' on the white in some marbles and MK is one type where that happens. By the way, there is no 'd' in aventurine, although we all know what it means either way.

First group of 9 are not much to look at but as peewees they get some respect (got these from Larry Castle when I first started collecting). The other pic is 3 different views of more Taters.

I've always liked Champion marbles - great variety of color (since Dave was there, too), Here's one display of mine from a few years ago. I believe most, if not all, are Champion.

Besides the two Steelie bags that Steph shows, which I have. Here are two others that I also have. They are all solid ball bearing types.

I used to drive down for the Santa Cruz show back when they had one but it's been a few years. Usually I fly when I head south. I have not heard of either of those two gentlemen - sounds like I missed someone/something. PM me Randy's email address if he has one. Maybe we can set up communications. You could also refer him to the www.iamc.us website. He might be able to make the Las Vegas or LA shows or even come up to Tacoma next summer.

Outside of the Vitro and Bogard ones mentioned above and maybe a black Peltier banana (although I personally think they are foreign), most of the black cat's or cat's with black vanes are foreign made - Japan, Mexico and now China, Taiwan & other places inthe Far East.

Outside of the MK St. Mary's types, you don't find the different color vane cat's-eyes in the US marbles (Vitro hybrids, etc. are usually not full color vanes like the ones pictured). Japan and Mexico were the first common ones found but now Taiwan, China, etc. appear to be making them.

I would say nothing major - couple three bucks if mint

I've got about 15 - 20 different Heaton Cat Eyes bags and none of them have any dark brown, black, amethyst colors cat's in them. Most are 4 vane that look close to MK style but some do have a little separation in the center. In my CE Bogard bags, there are many with the 'black' cat's-eyes.

Neat item - good background for those type of bags. Unfortunately, Champion bags have not had any real value since I started collecting a little over 11 years ago. There were just too many filled bags from the Champion 'warehouse sale' where someone bought empty bags, headers(Champion, Nationwide & Milton Bradley) and marbles and filled them. Then, when the Champion marbles ran out, they started using MK's and whatever other marbles they could cheaply get to fill the bags.

Just to clarify. Kevin mentioned Akro moving to WV or something like that in post #7. It seemed like maybe he was wondering why I did not mention Akro in my post about the other WV marble companies that did not make swirls. I did not mention Akro because, as I stated in the post Steve quoted above, because Steve HAD mentioned Akro in his post. Here's what Steve aaid in Post #2 - 'Also, people have perhaps jokingly included certain Akros in that category. They weren't primarily a swirl company but were in WV and did make some swirls.' Steve wasn't saying they were swirls but he was indicating that Akro was in WV. Kind of a wasted post but I didn't want Steve to think I was 'going after him' for some reason. This is a good thread for newbies and some of us oldies. It's always good to know the vast number of marble companies inthat neck of the woods.

First, on my previous comment, Akro was mentioned in Steve's initial post. Second, the Vitro 'swirls' were not like the regular WV swirls we are all trying to ID. They were more like a patch sorta swirled into the clear. Here's a pic that William took of Ron Shepherd display at New Philly back in 2006 (I think) with Davis on the left and Jackson on the right. Also a couple of other pics that Rory had posted osme time back. Really hard to ID these.

I didn't see Vitro mentioned in there and some of their marbles might also be considerd swirl patterns. I'd say espeically the ones just before they moved to Anacortes but...? Also, for newbies wondering about all of the various West Virginia marbles companies, the ones that are not in the 'swirl' list but are from WV are Marble King, Master Glass and Master Marble.

I've seen very few pictures of black crossthrough cat's-eyes. I have attached two of Patry's pics and one of Dave's (gretchka) from back in 2005 or so. You see some black vane cat's-eyes of various types but rarely the crossthrough types. The value is going to be what someone wants to pay for it. I'd be surpised if you haven't already received an offer or two.

Here's a picture of the Vacor/Mega Spaghetti (aka Streamers) marbles from the emarbles website, many of which fit the wirepull definition of swirling within the marble but not touching itself.

Congratulations, Ron! Now you'll have more time to work on your house, your son's house and dig, dig, dig... Yup, and maybe you can travel a little - like out west.
