Oh yes, faces and marbles. Names not so good. I am a lifetime member of that club. Don't be shocked if I see someone at a show and cannot remember your name. But I will know your face.
-
None here. These are first I have seen.
-
That No. 10 is a difficult one to find for sure. They remind me of the Heaton box.
-
I have forgot ??????

The sample box is a keeper for sure. There are only two of them.
-
If the green was opaque I might say Akro. But with the green so transparent I am going with Vitro.
-
I agree don't overpay too chase. Most are foreign cat eyes and few Jabos. At most shows this group might be $5.00 . Unless something hiding that we cannot see.
-
There are a few rare red base Alleys. But I have never seen a 3/4 inch red base one.

I agree with the center logo and the M being the easy key to the fakes. Several of these Master boxes were made fake. The boxes with the stars 10 cents are old original and can be red, or blue or green. You find a wide range of marbles in these, over several years. Some have nice marbles some have very common and or plain marbles. Probably a jobber box or used by different jobbers ?

This has been a thing I have done since the second year that I started collecting marbles. We have done teaching and game playing with many kids for a few years with Ohio cub scouts jamborees. I almost always give away marbles to any and all kids at marble shows. We have done lectures on marble history and identifications at different local libraries. I did a article in the recent WVMCC newsletter about a young man, maybe eight or nine. Who I hope somedays ends up being a collector. I found him digging marbles by his self in Pennsboro WV. We have held marble tournaments at WVMCC shows year ago. Yearly promotion and education of marbles is a bylaw of the West Virginia Marble Collectors Club for over twenty years. Years ago we held drawing marbles contest and marble games in schools. But now it is almost impossible to get into the schools. All that is needed is to put marbles in the kids hands. Then teach them what to do with them. They will lay down that phone or video game to play marbles. Most of them have marbles at home but do not know what to do with them. One of the good parts is a ten cent marble has as much value to them as a $100.00 marble to a collector. Just a little effort and time can make big smiles. How do you put a price on that ? They are the future.

Sad news once again. Long time collector of all marbles Chuck Brandstetter passed away early today. Chuck has had a three year uphill battle. He had a kidney transplant, then heart troubles, then two strokes. A few days ago he was in ICU fighting Covid. Chuck and his wife Diane were experts with Vitro marbles. Along with original marble packages. They collected all marbles for many years. They have been members and heavy supporters of the WVMCC since it's early months over twenty years ago. They both have a long list of marble friends of many years. Chuck was a promotor of marbles where ever he was. He would take all the time possible to answer any and all marble questions. I could go on for hours about Chuck and Diane. Now it is time to take care of yourself Diane. The fight is over now Chuck. Rest in Peace my friend.

Not another Ron. One came from FL and one came from KS.

Followed me home from the recent Fort Wayne IN show. The prices were right. The onion is 2.30 inches and the other is 2.40 inches size, Big boys.

No correction, you have it correct. Quite a few are over 5/8. some are 11/16 and a rare few 3/4. All just my best guess at what I have seen over 25 years. Ravenswood's were the first marble I went hunting for. At the Fort Wayne IN show I just went through a plastic shoe box size tub full of WV swirls. There were at least 200-250 near 9/16 size swirls in there. At least 95% of those were Ravenswood. The majority were mixed WV swirl makers near 5/8 with a few 11/16 and maybe two 3/4 inch and two 7/8 inch. I bought 41 of the 9/16 size Ravenswood's. The largest number overall in the whole box were Alleys.
-
Leans even more to Ravenswood, maybe 70% chance Ravenswood, 30% chance Alley. Size can help narrow things down. Ravenswood made five or maybe ten times the numbers more of 9/16 size, than Alley did. But I think Alley has Ravenswood beat for numbers of pee wee size and smaller.
-
Just from what I have seen over 25 years. Ravenswood marbles sizes by percentage, 9/16=40% - 5/8=35% - 11/16= 10% - 3/4= 5 %- under 9/16= 5% -- 100%.
-
I agree modern contemporary.

Well for sure it is one of three, CAC, Alley or Ravenswood ? If it was more orange than red it might be a Alley Carnival. Tough call for Alley or Raven. I don't have a known example for sure. Today, I would guess 55% chance Ravenswood and 45% chance of Alley. Like you said BUT, that could switch the opposite way easy.
