Steph
What promotional opportunity were the stores missing?
Peltier Mibber
Perhaps custom packaging in the way of self promotion ? And sponsorship of tournaments would be good promotion too.
Steph
I see now ... the editor was suggesting the stores hold marble games.

Steph
On one of my old sets of backup disks, I have tons of articles from Beckley, West Virginia, spanning many years. They had a sports reporter on the marble beat. I imagined writing a book about tournaments using Beckley's history as the backdrop. Most of us have probably thought one time or another that we had a book in us. I now realize I probably don't. But I sure liked the idea.

I've been looking for one since I saw a coworker with that same box, but I didn't know the proper way to say "hey, when you're done with that kleenex box I want it'. lol did lots of google searches as well. If I recall it was a bunch of nice Akro Popeye marbles on it, so somebody must know a bit more history...

I'llhavethat1
Awesome! My memory was off a bit but surely some nice Akro marbles there (which probably didn't just get swept off the floor for a photo-op). You guys are great, glad I wasn't completely imagining things. wvrons
You are not going to see one of those Orange - Crush box sets in many collections. Also nice rubber stamp.
I'llhavethat1
Yeah, that Orange Crush set is new to me. I've got a few of the Crush pop bottles from that era but hadn't seen/heard of a marble set with the logo

Theinfamousdragonsbain
A very good friend of mine just died and he had no family so everything was left to me and as I was going through it I found the stuff and I remembered him telling me the story of his dad. I want to try to get it in a Museum or somebody's hands who really care about it

Ric
17 minutes ago, Theinfamousdragonsbain said: I want to try to get it in a Museum or somebody's hands who really care about it I imagine there are at least a few collectors who would love to own those things, myself included. But it would probably be best if they were in a permanent collection on public display where more people could see and appreciate them. I would start by contacting the Smithsonian Museum of American History. If they are not interested, perhaps the Wildwood Historical Museum, in Wildwood, NJ (where the National Marble Tournament is held) might be interested.
Theinfamousdragonsbain
Thanks. There is not a single other crown on the internet for sale so I wouldn't even know how to price them
Ric
If you really want to sell the items, I would contact Block's Marble Auctions or Morphy Auctions. Both are widely followed by the marble collecting community.
