Oh idk Chad. I don't reckon it is a hybrid. But it does almost have an auger pattern

Hi Charlie, in the case of Popeyes it's the addition of an extra opaque color (or two) that make it a hybrid, yours still has a nice pattern to it

Thanks for the info Chad. I saw a hybrid the other day.... it's was the typical blue/yellow popeye.... with a ribbon of pink in it. Very cool mib. I think it sold for 5.

Image #1 with that blue line is just killer.

The blue even shows up in the lashes--very cool. I have seen this blue line thing before--it just shows up in some Akro marbles

( I hate to even say this but I will--I call this blue stuff
"Blue Oxblood" in my little pea brain--it kinda acts the same as oxblood imho)

Cool stuff!

Marble--On!!

Thank you!
That Blue, I know what you're talking about and I've thought in the past that the blue must be in between color changes in the glass, maybe it is, but why always a dark inky Blue?
These four have some variation of it.
Fun to consider.

Akro Ware--we have not seen much lately.

The blue one is made from the Molds that were purchased after Akro went belly up.

I do not remember who made them.

Same molds--pretty cool--part of my collection for sure.

I think that we got this one from the wife's Grandmother--even cooler imho.

Akro--On!!

I used to collect Akroware and had a decent collection. Now I might have a dozen pcs left with only a couple better ones. I am fairly sure that a company named Westite bought or acquired some of the molds.

Actually you have it backward. The Westite Glass factory in Weston, WV had a fire that stopped their production. (Weston is about a 35/40 drive from Clarksburg..  uphill both ways! 🤣).  The Akro Agate Company aquired all the molds Westite had in 1936. Thus focusing on glassware and childrens playsets as their production on marbles took a backseat and pretty much declined to nothing in the later 1930s as is evident by both the appearance and quality of marbles they did produce seasonally in the 1940s. Akros focus was on glassware in their last decade before they closed. .. and closed profitable. Akro Agate Company dissolved in Akron, Ohio, debt free, owing no taxes as a business. They were successful and closed their doors for good in good standing on Tuesday, April 24, 1951 with a final on~site auction and sale. The Akro Agate Company was profitable.
