Something smells all around on this account. Seller has almost no feedback despite being on ebay for 3 years. The account may have been hacked into. The marbles look like the Bulgarians. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Handmade-Marble-0-94-inches-/290959167588?pt=Marbles&hash=item43be849064

They dont appear too often. I have seen one necklace all matching where they were graduating size similar to an pearl necklace. That was about 10 yrs ago. The biggest on the bottom was about 1 1/4".

How far back did you have to twist Galen's arm. He (almost) never sells his Alley's except at Canton.

Anytime you alter the appearance of a marble to sell is frown upon. I would get mad if a seller put wax on a marble to shine it up and then get it in the mail this non wet marble?. Do you say in your listing you waxed it? Now I would have to decide whether its worth my trouble to return or not. We had this type of convo here when Ronnie was outed for failure to disclose with said alterations. In marbles to alter the appearance in any way with out revealing is fraud.

No popeye. I see clear and white mixed. Not enough seperation of the clear and white. Look at these and compare to see the seperation.

Question For The Marble Community....
clydetul62 replied to zaboo's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Same Bat Time. Just different Bat Place and different Bat Name. -
Steph did you get your answer for this thread? I put those definitions up because I saw a lot of ID mistakes in that thread link. Gnomie with marbles the name saying goes"If you own it. You can call it whatever you want" If I want to call it dop poop. Well then until it goes to somebody else it's dog poop.

A lot the older members are the ones given names. The problem I see is that how many people are gonna remember all those names. It's good that Galen loves CACs because very few of them have names.
-
Then the world is flat. Or at least until Steph or someone else can chime in because I cant seem to remember the magazine. They are called prize names because in a magazine Akro was suppossed to award a prize for those 200 corks. Not individualt but as a group. Akro didnt publish the name given as promised and when it did it was just a one or two line blurb in a later issue. Because of that people call them prize name.

It's sometimes called a cherry tomato. Some definitions. Popeyes=clear base, stringy white, 2 or more other colors ringer=same as a pop only 1 color. Cornelian are opaque red, Akro's version of a brick. Carnelian look like a Carnelian stone. Cornelian and Carnelian are not the same. Aces and Ades=patch type, translucent white with another color Ades glow, Aces do not If I am off in my descriptions let me know.

Akro Haul That Make Ya Stutter...
clydetul62 replied to dotcomdz's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I have that type of "pop". Except it doesnt have enough clear and stringy white to qualify as a true pop. It's black though. I would call it a 3 color cork, white/black/yellow. This exact type I have seen sold as a popeye though. Nice score irregardless if it's a pop or not. -
I will make it unanimous as well. I like the first shot. It shows more detail. The second looks washed out. I ordered one of the kits. Got it today. Dont expect quick results from me yet. Got to figure where to set up the thing. I got a dinky apt.

Yup Greg's got nice slags. A whole solitaire of CAC peewees. Very nice. I just have one in each color. My condolences to Yuki.

I have only 1 but it's fancy. Two drawers. Top where they drop marble in goes to top drawer. Bottom drawer is seperate. Does have some inlay. Hard to see in pic. Came with handmades.

Rariest Peltier Nlr "niagara Falls" 7/8" Mint 9.9 Marbles
clydetul62 replied to greg11's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
It's a rainbo. I have several versions of nlr that they redid a k&m and xmas tree and seen a few others. The colors are very muted on these versions. The blue/whites in your pic can be had for around 5-10 at shows. The most expensive one I have seen was a copperhead in that size. That only sold a couple hundred. This is a copperhead. -
Reproductions And The Damage They Can Do??
clydetul62 replied to lstmmrbls's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Sorry Griff, please refer back to post #50 as to my opinion on reproduction. You rephrased as asking for a definition. Maybe if Galen wasnt so honest he should sell those ones I have seen that mimic vintage for 250-500 each because thats what they would go for if they were real vintage. He could then give the exscuse like some people has said (Griff, Duffy Edna and others) that people have to edjucate themselves. Or pay the $$$ doing it. Griff please refer to post #88. The others can refer to previous posts they have made in the past about education. But If he did that. Then everybody would call him a crook. But no, he is honest. And trying to educate before that money leaves the beginners or whomever's pockets. So, which is it should be? The person thats warns of mimics or the crook that says the ignorant should pay? An example is that a past run had red/white/blue colors. Why couldnt they have used blue AV instead of transparent blue? Easy solution. -
Reproductions And The Damage They Can Do??

Griff, you will not get one either. I am no longer a child or student that has to do "homework". Ask me for an opiniom and I will give it. -
Difficulty With Pair Of Ebay Listings
clydetul62 replied to Gnome Punter's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Second is definetly a furnace. First one I am not sure but lean to what Steph said. At least the seller is trying and changing her descriptions. I give her kudos. The pics though are bad. -
Reproductions And The Damage They Can Do??
clydetul62 replied to lstmmrbls's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
What is trying to get across is to the beginner to the middle collector. Not to the advance collector or to those involved in the runs. This is at least 90-95% of collectors. There is almost that same percentage that has nothing to do with any of the boards. No matter WHOSE board it is. I have talked to them on the phone and at shows. They dont want to be bothered. I just recently helped sell an advanced collectors whole collection. In it there was 10 vacors that mimiced old. He didnt know they did to that extent. I keep reading that "it wouldnt fool me". Randy said he wouldnt take notice because they were 2 color. Plus he only does handmades. Edna, Griff, and a few others said no fooling them but they are investors and are involved in those runs all the time and have many examples to compare. They see them all the time and are familiar with more of the variation. Bumblebee said they never come across a score but recently they did. They worried the whole time until confirmed but that if they got burned they have would quit the hobby. How many runs did Jabo do before '08 when the investor runs started cranking out? How many investor runs since then? How many total marbles combined? The old vintage companies did as a business as toys to be used and played with. Not to be immediately put away. How many of these have been packaged and sold as toys? Doing colors, patterns, glass, oxblood, AV, lutz, sprinkles and so on. They say they arent purposely trying to mimic vintage but a certain percentage will come out as a mimic. I have seen many times at shows as well as the bay of the mimics. Will they do damage? Of course! Coins, comic books, beanies, sports cards, hummel and so on and so on. I have been in at least a couple of these other hobbies at one point or another in my life. I have also seen most of them take a nose dive as well. Always because of either reproductions or over production. How many threads has people started to try and get a discussion going as a learning tool but mud starts to sling very quickly and the learning stops. Just because some peoples opions differs from theirs. Most people dont know the back stories of the players. Most dont care. They just want to learn. This thread has gone 3 pages without much mud. These are the healthy types of mudless discussions that help not hinder the hobby. It doesnt matter who starts it.
