Great Article In Wvmcc Newsletter
clydetul62 replied to Al Oregon's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I had one these MK swirls mentioned in the article in my possesion for a few months. They mimic pelts. Very nice colors and pattern. -
The only ones that I remember where gold was on them were found from the digs.

It is not uncommon for a company to change sizes on products mid stream.

CBob would have had a better chance of resale if he didnt post. Now there are 3 more pages of arguement against being real. Along with comparisons for real and fake. His only defense was for BobB to rescue and back him up. So now he has to convince someone else that it's real and worth more than than $1125. I wonder what Hansel will say. At least now I know about an eagle's brain.

Alan Basinet Trojan Horse Email
clydetul62 replied to venwood's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
First thing is change your password. That is what support page for yahoo said to do. I had one months ago. I dont keep an address book. Instead it was picking emails that I had stored at random. Some it chose were a couple years old. Changed password and it quit. -
Well that was very informative.

It is a Santa Claus. Should be a clear based NLR. Not rainbo. Rainbo's are baseball style. Ie. base + 2 ribbons. Sometimes the ribbons are stacked together. I have seen these in 5/8" and 11/16" semi HTF. Although for some reason have seen about 3 pop up in last month. Tis' the season? They were named afyter the late Guy Gregg.

Anyone Know The Name Of This Marble

They are too big for peewees. Peewees should be .500 or less to qualify. -
He cares about you Winnie. That's what matters. Merry Christmas to all here and our mibbers across the pond.

I thought the same thing Ric. If I was a child I would scared to go back so soon. I hope they just start their xmas vacation earlier and have them make it up at end of year. Its a time for them to heal and being on holiday would be good for them. The community is very tight knit and that they will help each other. There was one small little laugh I did get on Friday. The school had posted there would be no afternoon kindergarten class that day. I am glad they cleared up many inconsistencies that were first reported. The prinicipal, janitor and teachers were heroes and saved many lives while sacrificing their own. . My heart and sympathies go out to the all the people of that community.

If I heard correct the median range income in Newtown is 110k.

Ric I only have the pic. The bag isnt mine. Here is the info "from a marble king advertising card. As you may reconize bags containing Akro and peltier. And some nice Akro's at that." The letter " The lettler includeind with the advertising of Akro marbles in marble kings packaging. berry pink the "marble king" not to be out done in advertizing claims his compay produces for over 30 years, in 1957? ha. go figure?, but he was the king of marble salesman, this letter was included in the card sets that contained Akro and peltier marbles in the bags..Akro went out of production around 1952. obviously the king grabbed the left over stock. .herein claiming them as his own, funny guy" If Berry pink produced them? I dont know. That would be a question for the bag experts. Maybe Al can answer that?

Here is another example of another company putting other marbles in their packaging. It's a MK bag from 1957 that has multiple companies including akro. Also a letter dated same from Berry Pink

Very tragic. Cowardly. It's now out that gunman mother worked at school and was among the dead. Senceless to involve innocent children. My thoughts go out to all families.

It isnt unusual or unknown that a company can close it's doors and be shutterred for years to decades only to be sold later. All inventory and rights going to new owner. This would be what happened here. These were probably bought and then immediately put away by somebody. NOS to say the least. Great stuff Craig.

Transitionals Marbles Or Handmade Single Gather Marbles?
clydetul62 replied to jeroen's topic in Archives
For the examples shown in posts #1 and #2 one of rarest is the oxblood with white but no clear at all. Totally opaque. In 13 years I have seen less than 10 from combined shows, ebay auctions and auctions that Bob Block has done. -
Transitionals Marbles Or Handmade Single Gather Marbles?
clydetul62 replied to jeroen's topic in Archives
Jeroen, in your post #7 you talk about end of day scrap glass as being single pontil. If it was scrap glass it would look all scrambled with no discernible pattern. Have you ever seen a handmade whether cane or transition or any type of old hand made that is like this? The glass would have cooled. Reheating the glass and making a single marble would jumble all the colors and pattern where it wouldnt be consistent. Most of these pieces were thrown away but not collected together to make one marble. What you are thinking of that type is beginning or end of cane. There are going to be 2 of these for each cane. One begin and one end. The ends has already been rounded off from making the cane. Most of these are your "clouds", or "hot air ballons'. Some are looped. Some have very little pattern or color at all. These as you know are rare because a cane can be many feet long. As example you make a cane and out of that cane you make 10 marbles. Two of those are going to be single pontil by being one at the begin and one at the end of the cane. That's 20%. It can be less even by how long your cane is. In Baumann's 3rd edition it shows Contemporary artist Mark Matthews demonstrating on how they made the cane.
