  1. Nice clear slag, those are usually the hardest to pic (for me anyhow). Hoping all the best for your situation
  2. Kinda looks like Pelt feathering, but probably Akro. Nice size
  3. Don't look like pelts and agree on foreign, any pics of the board? Sounds interesting
  4. From my experience, it it's submerged in water (aquarium, etc) the finish can look this way over time. But it could also be play wear. Imagine a few generations of kids running around with a bag/pocketful of marbles, and them all knocking together. Some of the old German handmades got absolutely matte finishes from play wear. Vintage marbles wouldn't have left the factory this way, although some modern companies made them intentionally
  5. What's the size? No Pelts from what I see. Alley (possibility of CAC) on first, 2nd is maybe Alley? Looks a bit newer
  6. Nice examples of some clear based Peltiers, but to go beyond that, I kinda agree with Ron.
  7. ...or, put them on eBay! That works too. I think you'll do fine with that listing
  8. I'm digging it. I look at marbles as pieces of art too. Hope she does well.
  9. Awful lot of swirling action, any chance it's not Pelt, but Alley instead? I'd need to have some clearer pics. Of course the top left view is convincing as Pelt, but the rest is kinda hard to tell.
  10. No worries! We're in this together having a marbelous time:)
  11. Another conundrum. Size? What type of light are you using?
  12. Size? If less that 7/8" (I'm thinking it is) and the wear on the glass I'd guess CAC or Alley. I don't see anything close to Akro. Please note the size for ID purposes as it can help narrow things down in a jiffy
  13. There are a couple nice Pelts, and some nice Akros. If unsure on specific types or grading, maybe consider selling on this board or consigning the group to someone, either to sell in multiples or individually.
  14. See? some of those cleaned up nice! That handmade is beat to crap though. As far as the names go there's just too many to go through and even then there might be some disagreement.
  15. I'd say very good chance at foreign with that base an (what appears to be) orange peel texture
  16. Looks like some vaseline glass marbles that might clean up some. You'd be surprised what looks like damage in pics is actually years of accumulated dust and dirt. Of course some don't clean up at all. The steel marble might have been a contributing factor to some of those dings.
  17. I hear ya! Mine I thought was a weird rebel variation. Had it for years and just hadn't looked at close enough to see the green tinge under closer inspection of the "black".. Probably wouldn't have even been noticed on an opaque white base. This is the only crappy pic I could find from years ago and (at the time) I think I was trying to take a pic of marbles with debris. But I think you'll agree there are some similarities with the OP. I'd love to hear about/see others
  18. Not a pontil, likely MFC, and most of the big ones top out around 1-1/4". There are some way bigger ones but not seen too often.
  19. Pretty sure all the one's circled are Pelt and some variation of a Christmas tree (with green), rather than a Rebel (with black). Nice looking marbles.
  20. Poor old Peltier must feel left out with handgathered slaq discussions.... Not saying it's Pelt (could be) but I'd wager Akro.
  21. Nice, probably some sort of Christmas tree variant with a lot of oven debris. I had a similar one kicking around here for a while. It's nice of your Grandma to think of you, so the marbles can live on in posterity. Probably some very interesting marbles in that jar, thanks for posting
