Your Treasured Foreign Machine Made Marbles, Anyone?
Ric replied to Marbleized's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Water-driven stone polishing mills are machines, right?😁 a couple of close-ups. And here it is with some non-machine-made stoneware. I'm betting the stone is older. lol -

Thanks for everything, Ron. I like the prospects on that one. Some more of my favorites - black cherry striping on a peanut butter brown base - mmm mmm!

I should have said it's 9/16" too, which is another reason I am hopeful and leaning Ravenswood.
-
I never actually sampled them, and I stand corrected. The 5% for error seems entirely reasonable too.

Your Treasured Foreign Machine Made Marbles, Anyone?

These are my most treasured because I got them in trade from a dearly departed Dutch marble friend, Winnie. -
Killer marble, is the base translucent/smoky? Really nice!
-
Brent Marshall You will not see many marbles from this glass artist. The biggest here is about 1 13/16"

You're right, AkroOrka, Alibaba is a great place to scout new marbles, especially of Chinese origin.

I really want this marble to be Ravenswood too but . . . might be Alley. Any ideas, anybody, @wvrons?

Nice Jackson marble, Tommy! That creamy white will glow like nuts.

These are the 1" marbles that came with my Babe the Blue Ox (Paul Bunyan) Toy. A couple have a little AV in the green.

I have not seen one like it - my guess is newer. It almost looks ceramic.

Great marbles, I have never found one of those baby blue ones that is not fractured.

Just to clarify, most (>50%) of Ravenswoods are under 5/8", I suspect the vast majority of marbles they sold in bulk were 9/16". But there are plenty of 5/8" Ravenswoods in boxes and bags. It also seems like many of the earlier batch glass marbles were on the smaller side compared to later production.

Alan, your group photographs really add to the "art" of art glass marbles. Thanks for sharing your collection - I feel lucky to see it!

Gina has not been around here since Friday, I hope all is well!
