  1. Here are 3 more examples of this type of construction. Same type as the surfer. A blue/white swirl with minimal AV on a clear base. A green fizz. No AV in fizzes. A multi color swirl. All 3 are types where almost everything happens inside and color comes to surface in thin ribbons.
  2. Another surfer and a blue lagoon/blue surfer. I like blue lagoon but blue surfer if you're doing by classification.
  3. Totally different in appearance and construction. Giant is a dark transparent green AV base with white swirls. Similar to a wire pull. Surfer base is clear with a slight green tint. Lots of bubbles. No Av in base. Has white ribbons and black AV ribbons swirled inside with the ribbons come to the surface. The ribbons are like waves. Some multi colored has this same construction. There is another type of surfer that the ribbons are on surface only.
  4. Lucky 7 was suppossed to be because it had 7 different colors. Not sure if it was Jill Spencer that coined the term. Her web site http://www.marblequeen.com/
  5. Al's has the letters "O" and "R". OR=Oregon Caligraphy is for Alley's that are extremely busy in swirly.
  6. Steph needs to put the Asian pics in here. Those get mistaken in groups for CAC.
  7. I wouldnt be surprised if Brian didnt make it himself.
  8. Now we refer to them as miller, double cut, swoop cut, and classic (opposite pole to pole) cut.
  9. I hear jaws dropping and mouths watering in So. Cal and across the pond.
  10. Yes, I guess we do. Remember who my competition is! I did those terms to describe the differences in galaxies as they were mentioned in subject title. It can apply to any company. Any type. I may have opened pandora's box though. I can just see people now using that term to describe marbles now on ebay. LOL
  11. Most panthers have little to no AV. Got to watch though because vacor made copycats. The pics are vacors.
  12. Cubscout vs. Galaxy. The blue on the scout is generally a shade lighter than the galaxies. The yellow in the scout and galaxy however are different as well. Scouts yellow is darker, while the galaxy yellow is a bright lemon. A scout comes in different sizes as oppossed to the galaxy where the its usually 9/16"-5/8". A scout usually has a thin black non AV lines following the yellow ribbons. The galaxy very thick black AV. There are 2 different styles of galaxies in construction. There is the precise and there is what I call the messy galaxy. I put in pics for both types. The first pic is a precision and the second is a messy galaxy. In the precision galaxy both the yellow and AV are clean and precise in their lines. They are very crisp and make the design stand out more. The precision is also the more desireable. They are VHTF. Especially in mint. The messy galaxy is where especially the AV is a mess. It spreads out and thins out. The plus side though is that usually when this happens the AV usually spreads out to the yellow and blue. The messy galaxy is the one you will see most of. The hard part of any galaxies is finding them clean. Most of the galaxies you see for sale are banged up. Prices can be all over the place.
  13. Alley West Virginian is slightly different I think but similar. The baby blue is lighter and the yellow is brighter. I didnt see any AV in the Alley.
  14. Sorry gonna do this in 2 parts. To help give my hands a not hurt as much. Because there are 3 different shades of blue and four different types of pelts to discuss the differences. The lighter baby blue in Mandrakes, a cubscout and a galaxy. Lighter to darker in that order. I'll first do mandrakes and the ones from marblemiser pic. I'll compare the cubscout and galaxy later. For reference mandrakes will be type1 and marblemiser type2. They are very similar but the patterns are different. The pics are from the ebay that William did link. Which is same as type 2. The color of blue is the same for both of these types. A very light baby blue. The pattern is different but similar. Type1 I think was at the beginning of the run and they were ending up with the more symmetrical type 2. type 1 in pattern has a green/yellow That looks tannish. mix. Then yellow. Then the green/yellow ribbon on one side. These ribbons are are wider than the other side of this type and also of type 2. The other side has 2 of the thinner green/yellow mix ribbons. There is also fine line green AV in the green/yellow. Tpe 2 is the more common and the cleaner/precise pattern of 3 ribbons on each side. They are the green/yellow mix. Three ribbons of this on each side. The ribbons are thinner and more symmetrical than type 1. There are fine line green AV in this type as well, but not as prominent as Type 1. This type is the one I think peltier wanted to end up with.
  15. They are more in the cub scout family. they are semi HTF and almost alway have AV. The name land and sea was the first I had seen it when it was sold.
  16. I have heard pattern as butterfly. Looks like banded translucent. Has a Chinese feel to me.
  17. I have only one squeaker 3/4" bee and one 3/4" wasp. Right now neither wants to move. I have no idea as well why both of these almost dont exist in that size or larger.
  18. The marble above the hole with the arrow is a blue angel. pic enclosed of mibcapper's angels. Can do a seperate thread on angels' Back to thread as bumblebee is correct in that the 9/16" and smaller tend to have a darker yellow. Reason is unknown. Pelt yellow as well as baby blue comes in different shades. I have seen bumblebees go from a dark "schoolbus" yellow to bright lemon yellow.
  19. Dont know if made in one day. The GR isnt that hard to find compared with the galaxy. They came in all sizes. Never heard of 1". I know of a 13/16" sold some time back. Finding them over 3/4" is tough. Finding them clean is tougher Look at the back row of the pic and the graduated sizes. It's missing an 11/16" size though.
  20. Ask Al. It has his name on it. lol.
  21. Chihuly supervises the work in his studios. He now does abstract painting.
