I think I've seen a similar colored one before but not as translucent and more of a darker orange than a yellow-ish orange. And the pattern wasn't as crazy. Heck, maybe it wasn't even close at all. lol. Nice marble tho

Maybe a counter weight? It would be interesting to know if evidence of glass chips, (as a result of the visible marble damage), were also found inside the doll. might not seem like much in the grand scheme of things but could be a clue--

A three head grinding machine would make it about as spherical as it gets (if that's the goal)

The large circular pattern is like you'd see on many hand made marbles from where it is 'worked' off the cane. At first I thought it could be wear marks from rotating in the metal claw but after closer inspection that isn't the case. They are 2 inches +

I posted this one a while back, pretty sure it wasn't from a mold. There is patent info stamped on the top, my guess is 1878 (but maybe the '78' means something else). Have you seen ones like this before in your travels? Sorry for branching off topic.

Cool info. Does it mention anywhere if it was a resusable mold (probably was). The larger caster balls is interesting, most of the ones I've seen can be identified as cane cut or not from a mold.

May not have anything (or much) to do with Peltier but the pattern can arguably be compared as similar to some Pelts. Mind you that doesn't make it a Pelt, especially when the color variations and cutlines are accounted for. The red in post #7 is nice too

Eye-catching pattern. Agree that the 'twist' is seen on a lot more Pelt multi-color swirls- maybe something to do with the volume produced? Or the conditions (temperature, way they traveled on the rollers) ?

How many cups do you really get out of a bag? The logo change on the second bag needs to be paid for somehow

Probably isn't the only big marble to go through that treatment. Some kids couldn't help themselves trying to see what was inside. Who wouldn't want an example like this to save themselves the trouble? As a side note, I've heard plenty of sulphides ended up the same way, trying to break loose the toy animal/figure inside (which looked metal but obviously wasn't)

On the left meddle (see what I did there? ) the cast even shows where the 'suspension' was part of the new mold. 12 o'clock

Agreed, but if you picture it as part of the fold it might not 'seam' so unusual (see what I did there?)

Awesome pattern, bold colors, condition looks great from the pics. I can see why somebody would want this for their collection to fill an empty Pelt spot and they had a lot of $$. Plus there looks to be a bit of transparency so it might look even cooler when backlit
