We had a buy/sell/trade forum but it wasn't being used so we got rid of it. A couple of people who were liquidating their whole collections posted them in this general chat area. But if there is interest in renewing the trade forum .... Jason? @bumblebee What are your thoughts?

Stone is different from china and stoneware. China and stoneware are types of ceramic. Not actually stone.

Very pretty. The clarity of the glass in the second makes it look Akro to me but it's not fitting any definite pattern in my head, so I'll watch with interest.

It is gorgeous and new to me. Is it stone? That's what it looks like on my monitor. 2.165 inches is nice size for a conversation piece.

Sweeeeeeeeet!!!! Way to stay on your toes! We caught a few sales last weekend, but no marbles until I got to the antique mall. That's not very wild. But it was better than nothing. Here was my take from last Saturday. At least most of the cat's eyes were cross-throughs.

Another installment in the series of "you might be a marble collector if everything in the world looks like marbles to you!" It took me a couple of seconds before I realized I was looking at a bowl of fruit and not marbles!

On the big ones with the ox, I'll say Akro. Not JUST because they have ox. But that helps. With all the colors involved, including the brown, I am mildly concerned someone might say they're a Jabo contract run. But I'll hold out for vintage and will say Akro.

I did it! I stopped in at the antique mall. Well, hubby and I didn't just stop in. We spent quite a long time going up and down all the aisles. He was helping me find marbles. I found so many actually that I chose to leave some behind. They weren't fantastic. The best thing I left behind was vintage bag of Marble King cat's eyes. If it was the only thing I found I would have gotten it and counted myself lucky, but it was priced a bit high, and I already found this bunch for $25. And that was enough. One jar of "stuff" which was priced at $5 and had a few marbles, including the shooter bumblebee, and a ceramic figurine from Japan, and other fun non-marble things. Then there was a $20 jar which was half full of big red clearies ... and I LOVE clearies. And it had other decent marbles, including a bunch of cross-through cat's eyes. And the jar itself was a blue mason jar with a zinc lid. So it was a good day. I'm gonna need to research that marble with the green center ribbon and the red and blue patches on the ends. I get a Vitro feel from it, though the colors seem more Marble King-ish.

I hope you can get some trading partners. But as I mentioned in another thread, I hope you don't get rid of something that you'll regret not having later. I have a smallish collection myself. Thousands of marbles, true, but a much smaller set which would be worth sending to someone in the Netherlands, and most of those nicer ones were gifts. So, that's why I didn't jump in right away to say how fun this idea really does sound.

There's a bit of Akro look to these. I want Ricardo Mendoza here to see if he thinks you could have 1960's Vacors. He has shown us they were very colorful and a little bit American looking.

For the ones which are in doubt -- which currently is the vast majority -- I would encourage you not to make rush decisions about them. As we learn more about them, they could turn out to have more recognized value, and you might be sad if you parted with them too soon.

No particular value. It's called a "clearie". Clearies were made by many companies and are practically impossible to ID even if you know they're American. The glow is fun but doesn't give much value to the marble. Jewelry is a good use for it.
