  1. The white doesn't look as solid as I expect in slags but the ribbon is not well defined enough to make me think they're later swirls. So, assuming they're both vintage, I'll say Akro slag on both.
  2. I was thinking of that song, All the Marbles, recently. Wanted to repost it. Instead I'll bump the thread with this helpful ad which I need to look up a couple of times a year.
  3. Unusual example. I'd call it a keeper. Might be hard to find another like it.
  4. You can buy modern marbles in larger amounts which could qualify as cheap. This is the Marble King site. I assume/hope they are still making marbles in the U.S. Home (marblekingusa.com) You can find marbles from Vacor de Mexico in the toy aisles of stores. Or here is an online outlet you could try. Vacor de Mexico – Alamo Toy Marble This is Vacor's site. The company is called Glasfirma now. I had forgotten that. Vacor Marbles - Toys - Glasfirma - Crystal Products Factory Alibaba is a source for Asian marbles. Marbles-Marbles Manufacturers, Suppliers and Exporters on Alibaba.comMarble

    Vitro?

Huh ... interesting That's a bit of a puzzler -- a swirly patch (which could be vitro) or a nonswirly swirl (which would be someone else).
  6. It kinda does look familiar. I'll put my chip on Pennsboro Alley. But wait for someone who actually knows something.

    Vitro?

Good question. You're thinking of Vitro because of the helmet-like stripe? The colors and the larger patch make me think of Akro. Not sure what to make of the ribbon.
  8. Awwwww .... I spent a lot of yesterday reminiscing about my beloved departed. Including having the occasion yesterday to post this picture of my Joe and the light tent that he claimed as his favorite hangout.
  9. sweet ... don't know if I have that one ... but I do now! I don't remember seeing the "fire opals" advertised very much. I need to refresh my memory of what ads I have access to. Thanks for sharing.
  10. I was wondering if the one on the right might qualify as a "Woodie". I'm never quite sure about that name though.
  11. I often suck at mailing things in a timely manner but I would try my very best!

    Dear Santa

Come on in! But close the door quick, before anyone else sees us!
  13. For many years my resolution was to eat cheesecake every day. Because then I wouldn't feel guilty when I broke the resolution. This year's resolution is to be able to do a chin-up without assist by next Christmas. I have been using a chin-up machine at a gym to help make that happen. My current setting on the machine is "heckuva lot of assist".
  14. Hmmm ?? Maybe a Marble King on the big one? Or maybe a Peltier Rainbo. The smaller one to the right of it is a Peltier Rainbo.
  15. I see you already saw this thread: Named Heaton types - General Marble & Glass Chat - Marble Connection I'm not aware of many if any Heatons having been named before the recent digs. Chuck? @cheese
  16. So much for "obvious", huh. Learn something new every day.
  17. Nice pix. Good question. I haven't thought to saved polished pix in many years so I wouldn't even know which back-up drive to look for examples on. This very obvious example caught my eye once upon a time and I just found it again in a search:
