There is a " chance " of them being made in Lauscha on a copy of an American machine, dont know if its the same machine http://www.murmelwelt.de/historie.html Translated version Machine-made marbles Towards the end of the 19th century, the Americans began to develop machines for the mechanical production of marbles. When the marble production in Germany was interrupted during the First World War and the machines of the Americans were further matured, the end of the hand-made, German glass marbles was sealed. America was now the leader in marble production. Companies such as the "Akro Agate Company" or the "Peltier Glass Company" supplied the American market. In Lauscha one had copied one of the American machines and had to pay high penalty for it. also on the same site they show machine made marbles under the heading Neue Murmeln or translated new marbles i believe this would refer to machine mades being modern and handmades being old the German made wire pulls will be in the mesh bags and Veiligglas are a different type The bag is one Buckeye posted a while back

Yeah i love slags and can spot them in a group from a mile away 😎 pretty tough in general to pin down a maker in most case`s but that doesn't make them any less lovable and they are often well played with i find the odd one in that pretty blue like yours and got one a week or so ago from under the floor of an old house made my day 🙂

Dramatic difference Yeah i had a little trouble searching still a few good pictures there though Photobucket screwed us all Blakies are patched the same colour on both poles with the brown equator cobber

there are some pictures in stephs study hall this pic is from there http://marbleconnection.com/topic/6787-mostly-pix-vitro/

think i see what your missing mate Conqueror should be a non coloured transparent base/sphere with a veneer of a coloured patch and white all red is a white non transparant base /sphere with red patch on the north pole a white belt around the equator and a coloured patch on the other pole all red black line is a whitecoloured non transparant base /sphere with red patch on the north pole and the black line on the equator and a coloured patch at the other pole the yellow on this example is just a thining of the red veneer the thicker/deeper the red veneer the richer the red, as the veneer thins the white base takes over and dilutes the richness of the red making it appear yellow and not an added colour hope thats correct and worded ok

When i hear 11th of the 11th i think of Remembrance day as do most Australians its a Significant day in Australia's History the end of world war 1 celebrated with a holiday religious & Military services and parades a time to remember their sacrifice and contemplate the futility of war Remembrance Day, which was originally called Armistice Day, commemorated the end of the hostilities , the signing of the armistice, which occurred on November 11, 1918 – the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Lest We Forget

One good turn deserves another so i thought i would put a little lot together ain't got much but thought everyone loves bennies so grabbed a few glossy one`s i thought were more interesting and threw in a lined crockery the biggest is the brown just short of 17mm the smallest just short of 16mm the browns have green which didn't show up to well with my camera the white has blue and brown and if you hold your mouth right and squint click your heels together it almost looks like the brown and blue bleed into green the little brown one i thought was bit of a different colour the blue give a little colour to the group the lined crockery just sweetens the deal might just be the big ones but i thought chuck one in it will definitely lead to a bidding war URL=http://s820.photobucket.com/user/godown44/media/P3020013_zpsse8kp8p9.jpg.html][/URL] i will pay shipping auction will end on the 10th Craig
