West Virginia Wednesday !!

Art Jones--What a marble dude.
Every auction that I went to in Wisconsin that involved marbles--he was there.
Every antique store that I asked about needing a marble guy—he was there.
He was just a great guy with more energy than I ever had.
Marble—On!!

I just loved Art Jones - Once I helped him finish a Lucky Boy box and over the next year or so, not long before he died, he sent me some remarkable (and rare) Pelts, just because - and with provenance, since he knew i was and art historian. Extraordinary guy. Still miss him.

It's a Master for sure. The other side has the white brushed patch. The spot that's giving that pontil appearance is just a reflection. The sun was breaking around the edges pretty strong and it took a few shots too get a good one.

When I get a chance, I'll post it too the "Master's" thread...

Still looks like an old German banded transparent to me. The pontil is the rough area at top right, not the reflection on bottom left. Curious to see more of it.

A few more shots of the marble in question. A few flea bites but still a nice marble 😊
