It was IDd as an Akro last year so I went with it? Thanks, that spiral is one of my favorites but I should have waited for this nice bright sunshine that's beaming down now! hdesousa
Here's an interesting Akro box where someone carved a niche for a pocketknife under the wooden header.

Akro75
A few Akro boxes, the No. 15 was purchased literally in pieces pretty uncommon and is undergoing restoration. Obviously missing the cellophane, but to me will be worth it when complete. The no. 44 box can be somewhat rare. I love my boxes!

This is very nice. Thank you for sharing it. It's interesting to me that the finger notch in the wooden header apparently doesn't go all the way through it.

That’s a pretty nice set there hdesousa. The style/size numbers are unique as is the wooden insert. I wonder what a #39 is? The knife looks like it may be from the same makers as the smaller box that you posted last week. The box, with the inserts, took more time to make than the marbles did. The insert looks handmade/crude, perhaps the knife is original. If the paper covers the edge of the “notch” I would say it is so. Very nice! Marble—On!! Tommy
When I saw them for the first time I knew nothing about marbles but I knew those were awesome. Now I realize how awesome to find them in their condition.... Thanks again to everyone for the knowledge you have given I consider myself privileged to have and continue to learn from some of the great marbleholics of our time ......

The second numeral is the size. e.g. 56 would be a #6 (1") moss agate, 42 would be a #2 (3/4") royal, etc.. The exception would be "9" in 39 instead of "00".
cheese
Wow, nice stuff. Love the carved niche for the pocket knife! Here is some of my Akro ware. I think I have more but I'm not sure where it is right now.
