Interesting, never seen it before. Probably could have bought a Ford in those days for that price. With items like these it's always interesting to think what type of marbles would have 'graced' it over the years
Nice grouping Dfay, most of them look like Pelts (except the separate one marked 43/64). Recipes and ratios varied between (and within) batches and companies so colors didn't always look the same whether it was in the same batch or a different company altogether.
I picked up some old books for 50 cents ea, and some old bottles for 5 cents each. Couldn't pass them up for that price. One of the old medical books had an invitation in it from 1866 to other local doctors to discuss a new medical act. Need to do some more research on that.
You're right it would probably expand (rust/oxidize) and crack the glass if it were much more than just on the surface under most conditions it it were a mild steel
Good question? It certainly looks similar in terms of colors and cutoffs, maybe your second marble can shed some light from the recent posters? nice marble by the way
My thoughts (with marbles or anything, for that matter) is to spend within budget.
If your mind is set on owning a _____ and set aside X-amount every day for the sole purpose of acquiring a ______ then go for it.
In my first response I wasn't sure if it was the marble return or the negative feedback that was the issue but either way not worth dealing with the BS.
